  1. Gross retired pay on DFAS is listed as $2846.00
  2. : His DoD disability rating is 70%
  3. Disability retirement: 6 years, 2 months, 24 days
  4. 100% VA compensation, $3952.51 (2023) and just went to $4078.99 (2024), 1 dependent (spouse) // no children
  5. -We are not at all sure about SMC. He has amputations and reading the policy for this he would have SMC, but we couldn’t find anything listed in DFAS or orders/records to that effect.
  6. We expect 100% CSRC approved
  7. Chapter 61 retiree only currently.

Has Purple Heart from combat action from Iraq in 2006 and Bronze Star all listed conditions are related to the conditions he sustained from those actions; stands to reason that he would be 100% but I know that’s not always the case. He retired prior to the change in 2008 and we've been given the runaround (over the phone with DFAS) previously as to eligibility but never applied until this year.

Hello,

a. 2846 / 70% = 4065.71 high three
b. 6.17 AD equivalent x 2.5% = 15.43%
c. 4065.71 x 15.43% =627.33 longevity portion of retired pay and a CRSC ceiling.
d. If CRSC approved percentage = a lower amount, that will be the CRSC; otherwise CRSC= 627.33

Note for item B and C: 2% is used for blended retirement and would change B and C
General: The estimate is for one month, and not applicable to previous years.

Thanks, Ron! Understood that there are a few variables we aren’t sure on and an estimate is in flux, as always. :)

Right. Yeah, I used the 2023 compensation value from his benefit verification statement and increased by 3.2% for 2024 but might have gotten that part wrong. However, we’re both veterans with VA disability comp so that may be why his 2023 entitlement reads what I gave you. Either way, I really appreciate having at least some idea of what to expect and 01/16/2024 will be 120 days so I’ll keep you guys posted.

Edit to add: I was looking at the 2024 amounts just not realizing the last payment at the end of December *was* for January 2024. Silly me.

Hello.

Since the VA comp is more than the gross retired pay, using either chart, all the retired pay is offset. I provided a link to the VA comp tables so you could review the different rates of CRSC IF the approved CRSC percentage and amount found in the tables (using VA figures) is LESS than the longevity amount.

You will receive the lesser.
