Is the 52 days business or calender days? DAV told me by the 29th Dec give or take 15 days either way it will be under 52 calendar days for preparation for decision.
Just be on the look out till around the 22nd if not by then, then most likely you'll have ratings after the get back from time off for Christmas

They just published guidance and IDES will be considered for the upcoming officer separation board. I just crossed 70 days since my unfit memo was sent. The board starts on 22 April, convenes on the 9th of May and they expect Sec Army to approve by August. I expect to have ratings before the board convenes, but don't like cutting it close. I definitely won't take any terminal or PTDY now and I'm shooting for any early CIF turn in etc.

Any recommendations--talk to DAV about the timing of case? If so, do you call your local rep, a rep close to Seattle where the case is being processed.

I can't imagine the hellfire and brimstone that would come raining down if the Army separated someone in the IDES process under the RIF instead. The only way I can imagine that the RIF for O's would affect someone in the IDES would be if you were to be found fit but then the board saw that you had a permanent profile (even a P2) and used that to separate you. That's partially why I stuck with the MEB as opposed to trying to rebranch- thought I'd get this painful process out of the way rather than wait for the Army to start separating O's with permanent profiles.

If I were someone who was going to get an admin separation during an IDES board, DENYING ME of earned retirement benefits due to injuries received from military service, I would be getting a lawyer, calling my congressman, and probably a good reporter as well. Where is this guidance published, anyway?

Found it in the MILPER Message.

8. OFFICERS IN THE CONSIDERED POPULATION WHO ARE ALSO UNDERGOING THE INTEGRATED DISABILITY EVALUATION SYSTEM (IDES) WILL BE CONSIDERED BY THE BOARDS. IF SELECTED FOR SEPARATION OR EARLY RETIREMENT (AS APPROPRIATE), SEPARATION DATES WILL BE HANDLED ON A CASE BY CASE BASIS. IF COMPLETION OF IDES REQUIRES ADDITIONAL TIME PAST THE MANDATORY RETIREMENT/SEPARATION DATE, REQUESTS FOR AN EXTENSION MUST BE PROCESSED THROUGH MEDCOM OFFICE OF THE SURGEON GENERAL FOR REVIEW AND RECOMMENDATION PRIOR TO ACTION BY HQDA.

From what I read is that if you are in the IDES and you are selected for separation then you will continue on with your IDES. If the IDES isn't finished by the time you are supposed to get out because of the separation board then you have to get the extension it's talking about. I wouldn't be worried.

LOL My case went back to Gathering Evidence once again.

Ok, does anybody know how to get a DAV rep? I called the number of the facility they gave me on DAV.org, and the lady on the other end was a complete B----. The number they gave me was to the VA hospital in Wichita, Ks. I'm at Fort Riley. I figure there HAS to be someone near Ft. Riley who can help with this.

I just need any information anyone can give me. Especially since my PEBLO avoids all kinds of contact from Soldiers, and after an ICE complaint and an ISIS request, I still have nothing...

Go to the DAV website and you can request a rep. Someone from the nearest office will contact you and tell you how to designate them as your Power of Attorney through the VA. It takes a few days but they are pretty good once you get signed up.

Your ratings are complete

Not too sure about that:

Check your VA Benefit letter under "documents". Apparently it'll say that status while they get your stuff ready and shipped back to the PEB.

Good luck!! Keep us posted!

You may be right, but I think they could put a few lines in there to address what takes precedence especially since they say "if selected for separation or early retirement (as appropriate)" when referring to outcomes from the RIF, not the IDES. I'm asking around for more details on this, but it's not clear quite yet how this will all play out.

after you recieve your unfit memo can you get out of the army before your case is done and not recieve pay like give up those things and get out and when va is done just send you the money then?

Trust me when i say your ratings are done

So My Ebenefits went back to gathering evidence and when I clicked on the date it expanded and said requested seperation documents. My Peblo says that the PEB still hasnt pulled my ratings as of last friday and its been 10 days since they were sent to the PEB. I hate being left in the dark now to top it off I have my 1SG calling every day bugging her and me like that s going to speed up the process....

Nope.

Got my email yesterday, I'm in the same boat. The MILPER seems to say that any involuntary separations will not occur prior to the 1st day of the 9th month following approval of the board's findings. It then gives an example that if the board's findings were approved in June 2014 then you cannot be involuntarily separated prior to March 2015. This should give time for most to complete IDES or request extension through OTSG.

Regardless, this new wrinkle has me nervous. My MEB was initiated in September 2012 and I'm still not done. The thought of the possibility that the Army could be throwing me out prior to conclusion of PEB process makes me ill. I can only imagine how our cohorts are feeling being on the chopping block; at least I knew I was getting out in the near future.

agree completely. has your ebenefits moved at all? mine still says gathering evidence/evidence overdue. Chances are slim we'll still be in when the boards meet, and even slimmer that we would still be in after they recess. What concerns me is that the criteria for VA and DoD compensation differ. VA rates for loss of civilian employability and DoD rates for loss of future military career. I just hope the military doesn't try to make the argument that a RIF would constitute loss of military career and say that takes precedence in order to deny retirement/medical separation benefits. Even below 30% disability medical severance is about twice as much as RIF severance.

Either way, if they RIF you, while compensation for your medical issues are pending, that's a case for Congress, or the media. I wouldn't sweat it, just prepare to raise hell.

On a personal note, I contacted the Seattle DAV, and they were fantastic. Apparently, my ratings decisions were completed on 7 Dec, and my file has been sent for a QRT review and second sigunature. Any idea how long that's taken anyone? The rep told me 20-25 days. Just curious if anyone has had any different outcomes.

Call the DAV in Seattle...they rule..

For all the RIF guys, I'd definitely call the DAV in Seattle...they would be able to let you know where your file is with greater accuracy than any DOD personnel. 206-341-8367. You have to do a POA on the ebenefits site, but they can walk you through that process.
