Severance pay

Hello all,

I have recently been medically separated from the Navy. I have now received 2 active-duty paychecks that I shouldn't have gotten due to me now being a civilian.
I understand that the military will come back for this overpayment and that I will be responsible for paying this money back.
My question is... Will the military subtract the overpayment from my lump sum disability severance pay, or will I have to pay back the overpayment before I'm allowed to get my severance pay.
My biggest concern is that my severance pay will be halted due to the fact that I have incurred "debt" from this overpayment and the auditor will flag my account.
Best case scenario, the Navy just deducts the overpayment from my severance pay. worst case scenario, the Navy puts a hold on my severance pay, until I pay back the overpayment.
The navy moves slow so I know if there is a hold on my account from the overpayment, then it will take a long time to finally get my severance.
I have already talked to my command (they have submitted all of the proper paperwork) and I have submitted my DD214 to my local military ID office. Has anyone ever been in this situation? Does anyone have any advice?
