Severance payment: How long did you wait to get your taxes back?

I was discharged April of 2010. The Coast Guard has a process where if you get your VA rating before October 1st of the year you were discharged, you can call the Personnel Services Finance Center and they will write you a check for the amount of taxes taken out. I received my VA ratings October 4th, so I had to go through the IRS. I received all my taxes from my severance pay without a problem. I filed taxes this year in Feb. and received my return in about 4 weeks. Hope all goes well.
