Should I apply for CRSC

I am posting because I am wondering if I should look into applying for CRSC down the road. Info about CRSC is confusing and I haven’t found someone with a similar case. Any info is greatly appreciated.

Background:
-0-3 with over 6 years of service
-30% PDRL 100% VA
-The 30% DOD is NOT combat related
-I have a 50% VA rated condition the IS combat related, but did not factor into the DOD rating for medical retirement

Should I be looking into CRSC? If so how much would it offset? I can provide additional details but haven’t been officially retired yet, just trying to see what is available to me.

Yes. Have you medically retired yet? If so then apply. If not then apply a couple months after you get out. You won't get a lot of money if approved. CRSC is there to recoup money lost due to the VA offset. You can get up to the amount of your retirement value. At 6 years your earned retirement is worth 12% of your HIGH 3 if BRS and if legacy 15% of your HIGH 3.

Thank you for your response. Couple questions to make sure I’m understanding this right:
This would mean it would be 12% times high 36 since I’m under BRS. This would be the number REGARDLESS of the 30% DOD retirement percentage?

Additionally, for arguments sake let’s say High 36 comes out to be $6,000. The money recouped would be 6000x12%=$720 in CRSC per month? Just checking because you said it wouldn’t recoup a lot of money but that seems like a pretty good bump per month unless I’m not understanding something.

Assuming your VA is larger than your chapter 61 pay which for most it is. So if you receive nothing from your chapter 61 pension then all you are getting is VA pay + Tricare. Your pension estimate is valid. So if your high 3 was 6k then the most you can get is $720 for CRSC. You could get less though if your CRSC % isn't high enough to get that amount. So you would need a CRSC% higher than $720. CRSC% uses the VA pay tables so just look up what CRSC % you need to max out compensation.
