Somatoform Question

Good Morning,

I have an AMRO board pending today to see whether I’ll be going to an MEB or not. Although my primary issues have been chronic MSK problems, it seems like my medical team is pushing a somatoform diagnosis going into the board.

I’m just curious if anyone has know someone to go through a MEB with this and how the process was for them?

I should be finding out from my PCM after the board convenes to see what’s happening next.

Pain is a hard call. There is no objective measure of pain, it is entirely subjective. Have you asked for a second opinion. The lack of verifiable physical condition does mean that one doesn't exist. Imagining and other test are not 100% accurate.

May I ask, how does the pain limit you? When you meet with the MSC you should talk about this issue of diagnosis. I would lean toward claiming both conditions.

Good morning!

Yes I swapped PCMs briefly to get a second opinion. They were sticking with the somatoform syndrome, and this doc was also considering malingering because nothing was coming back to anything. Luckily the Ortho doc I was referred to is sticking with the pain have a root cause that isn’t mental health.
I have explained to my PCM that the pain worsened well before my mental health took a dive. But we know how PCMs can be .

The pain is very limiting. As SF I’m unable to wear gear due to the extra weight and unable to arm, so I’m pretty much a floating body. And it got me WWDQ’d from an assignment because of the chronic issues.
 
Have you tried a pain doc? I repeat the lack of finding, doesn't mean there is not a cause for your pain. What type (specialty) of doc said malingering?

I have an appointment with a pain doctor soon, and I agree! My ortho doc felt the same. And it was just a regular practitioner, not a specialist.

But an update, they said I didn’t qualify for the MEB. But they want to push for a medical reclass
