I just got PDRL do I need to update my ID card? Is there a difference?

Yes, you do. Your status needs to be updated in DEERS to permanent retired and they will issue you a new ID valid for 25 years (at least mine is). You need to bring in your orders.

None that I can tell, just an updated expiration date. It's the exact same card as a regular retiree.
The expiration date on the ID is when you will turn 65 and become eligible for Medicare Part A and Part B. This what I was told when I took my wife to get her new ID card.
