Finished my VA Comp and Pen appts: Dec 14
Signed Narsum and everything ready to be sent: Dec 16
Peblo sent everything to PEB (took her sweet time): Jan 11

So I only have about a year in service (had a significant knee injury in training) and only have 3 claims on my paperwork. I was told that once my package was sent to the VA, it should take 6-8 weeks for a case like mine, possibly less. However, my peblo is extremely difficult to understand (semi-language barrier) and thus it makes it hard for me to gauge what I am realistically looking at since I do not have 6+ years in service.

Thus, if anyone has experience with this sort of case or has any insight it would be appreciated. Thank you!

Your years in service should not be cause for different treatment from the PEB. Everyone gets a specific ideal timeline, and based on certain factors, delays or more rapid push through is possible. In this process, I honestly say don't rely on a specific timeline, but focus more so on where your process is currently at. Expect possibilities for it to be much longer than expected but be prepared in case they are faster than expected and always be prepared.

There is no specific timeline that can accurately guesstimate your case. I'd say expect 3 months to get your unfit and 3 months to get your ratings at this point. If it happens sooner than that, thank the PEB for being quicker than they are for most.

Welcome to the PEB Forum! :)

In retrospect, if the DoD IDES MEB determines that a "medically unacceptable" condition exist, then the DoD IDES case file is forward to the DoD IDES PEB for a "fit for duty" or an "unfit for duty" determination. The MEB phase has an officially published DoD timeline of 100 calendar days for Active Component (AC) military personnel and 140 calendar days for Reserve Component (RC) military personnel.

Upon receipt of the DoD IDES IPEB findings inclusive of DoD and DoVA proposed ratings, the DA Form 199 (or similar Service specific document) is generated. The PEBLO has a three calendar day maximum limit to inform you of the IPEB findings and your election options once he/she received your IPEB fitness determination and disability ratings. The PEB phase has an officially published DoD timeline of 120 calendar days for both AC and RC military personnel.

To that extent, the DoD officially published timeline for AC military personnel within the DoD IDES MEB/PEB process is 295 calendar days, and RC military personnel is 305 calendar days . But, current timelines could potentially be delayed beyond the aforementioned durations due to any unforeseen backlogs in DoVA disability claims and the processing of DoD IDES case files. Take care!

Thus, I quite often comment that "possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer!"

Best Wishes!

Ive sent mine in two months ago, havent heard anything at all.... they recieved the same day. no fit or unfit and no ratings decision.... stuck playing the waiting game
