Unfit finding question

I was informed by my PEBLO that if they find you fit you will know within 3-4 weeks of your paperwork being submitted and if u haven't heard back from the board by then it's 99% chance that you will be found UNFIT. Just wondering if there is any truth to this statement? Please let me know. This waiting has me going crazy.

I am a PEBLO here at Ft. Carson, before that I worked at Transitions (Med Sep). The PEB reviews cases in order of reciept. Whether you are found fit or unfit the timeline you mentioned doesen't matter. Your PEBLO shouldn't have said what they did, because we cannot really know how long a decision will really take. I hope this somewhat eases your mind. I know the waiting can drive you crazy, but hang in there (I went through a MEB).

My PEBLO said the same thing... in her experience, FIT comes back in 2-3 weeks. If it is there for longer its typically UNFIT

My husband has 11 months to get his 20 year letter ANG. He is just starting the process. He is very I'll and I 'm sure will be found unfit. Do you think he will get his 20 in before they kick him out?

Maybe the PEBLO in question meant to say 2-3 weeks from the time the PEB starts reviewing your file (just a guess here). Mine has been at the PEB (received and checked into the board) since July 5th, still waiting on word.

I think he stands a great chance to make it to 20, especially if he uses the appeal process. Many people here wait 6-12 months from the time their MEB is initiated until they eventually hear back from IPEB. Appeals to the FPEB and higher can take many months to a year plus.

Thanks for the reply usafaviator. That's encouraging! He is already rated 100% P&T by the VA.

Thanks for the replies! I contacted my PEB today and found out I was found UNFIT, now I'm waiting to see how they rate me and if they are going to separate or medically retire me. Shoud know in 6-8 weeks.

If they do decide to medically retire me how does that work with VA disability? Can I receive both or do I have to pass on one to get the other? I'm less than 20yrs! Can someone please give me some insight to how that works?

Retirement pay is offset by your VA compensation. I'm not sure if you qualify for CRSC, being you are under 20 years. I'm sure someone on here will know the answer. If you do qualify, apply right away.

How did you contact your PEB?

CRSC is available to any retiree so long as at least one of the 4 requirements are met. CRDP is different.
