Wait Time For Providence, RI

So made my monthly call to pointless remind them I am waiting, here is the exact quote from the MSC
"the typical 120 day turn around from providence RI, has increased to 180+ days due to the Washington state RO sending Army case files over that are all ready past tht the 125 day mark, and have all ready been triage for ratings etc. these are taking precedence regardless of number of items claims ( the 7 or less vs 8 or more lines)."

I personally take that to imply there is a separate team working incoming cases that are "easy" such as the 7 or less pile etc. and the rest are working the army's pile. They changed the Monday morning report to reflect this as cases of a different origin are being tracked and reported separate from the ones original assigned to providence. This equates to nothing more than a shell game for the VA to not show the backlog as bad as it really is, but it is having real and painfull effects on those who had all ready been waiting an extended amount of time. It appears that even at the VARO's the case of " Doing good work only means you get more work" applies and it is pissing me off.

Today is my 120 day , SERENITY NOW!!! SERENITY NOW!!!!

Just changed to "Pending Decision Approval" today in eBenefits... just waiting to see what happens next on this.

:(101 days and counting. The VA had proposed ratings done on Dec 13, 2013. PEBLO said that stuff was sent to Providence but back logged because of the army. My ebenefits still hasn't changed. How much longer? Come on and hurry up...

Spoke with my VA rep today about my reconsideration. He confirmed that providence is getting additional cases and that they are also getting additional manning and overtime hours. He said that the additional case load will only be handled by the additional manning and will not affect the processing of cases normally assigned. I dont know if i believe it but i figured id pass it along

Hopefully that's not true. Army or not, everyone deserves the same processing effort. 170 days with the VA and counting, good times.

The RO has been getting army cases added since late oct. early November the best that I can tell, by looking at the case timelines from the monday mornign report, and specifically the changes to the report in DEC/Jan. the question of additional manning is a good one, where is that coming from? who is training them if they are new hires? the va does not have a "reserves" or guard they can just pull up to "surge". They may be shuffling some folks around and making the junior team more prominent in regards to the "triage" offices becoming raters as opposed to "glorified data entry clerks", but I dunno. The VA could have seen this coming with the draw down, but I do not blame them, I blame this administration (all sides) for the debacle that is the VA in its current state. I have zero doubt that Shinesky is a man of great honor, I just believe this job is not well suited to him, as an appointee, he does not have the cohones to step up and call it what it is, an utter failure on behalf of this nation to care for its warriors. (with the true caveat that they are leaps and bounds beyond what they were a decade or two ago). I am just disheartened that they allowed such a backlog to occur and to my knowledge the authorized and paid for overtime has not been reinstated since they cut it in Nov.

112 days and still no movement on my ebeneifts. hopefully soon

I was given an IDES timeline overview sheet by my PEBLO when I first started this whole process. They really shouldn't bother with killing trees for this paper. It actually says "VA: Preliminary Rating Board 15 days." Hahaha to that. I am at day 50 and based on all the posts on here, I will be lucky to get my ratings by day 120. And even after all that, there is apparently more waiting. This process will be the death of me.

19 SEP 13 - Initial Counseling
SEP/OCT 13 - VA Appts
20 NOV 13 - Signed Narsum
Early DEC - Found unfit
12 DEC 13 - Package to VA in RI

Yeah I had that IDES timeline it was very funny to watch. The way it seems work is the military is relatively on time with the timeline, which actually blows my mind, and the VA is obviously wwwwaaaayyyyy off. The military part, in my case at least, was pretty accurate and if they ever went over the amount of time allotted someone else yelled at those people and it was solved soon there after. The VA has no one to report to and no one can yell at them to hurry up.

It just frustrates me. I can't plan anything. But I'm sure that is virtually everyone going through this process right now. PEBLO says, "Yeah, should be sometime between February and June." And I'm like, "Wow, thanks for narrowing that down for me. Uber helpful." Oh well. I'm worried that they will take a long time with mine anyway because my referred/claimed conditions are different and unpredictable. Guess I will just try to be patient. Like everyone else.

Yeah one of the biggest problems all of us have is trying to plan for the future. I was told that I would be out of the marine corps before i started school in jan, well that didn't happen let alone has the VA even finished their part so its frustrating and it sucks. The best part of this forum is able to come on here bitch about how insane this process is and then also get some what of an idea of when you will get out. This process sucks and its ridiculous and thats all anyone can say for sure

I especially hate how there is no rhyme or reason to the rating. Some people are getting ratings back in 45 days and some in 150 days. Given the fact that this is my second med board process, I am way over it all. I want to look for jobs but I have no idea when I am able to start. I already had to defer my enrollment for the Ed.S program that I worked very hard to get accepted into at a college back home. Switched from January to August. I only hope I am home even by August at this point. I wish they would hire more people or establish more va regional centers that can do IDES ratings. I hear there are 3 country-wide. That seems ridiculous.

I have a question about VA though. So I check my ebenfits account a lot (wish I never found out about it because it has become an addiction), and it confuses me. I have been in the review of evidence phase since 10/30/13. The PEB did not find me unift and send the rating request to VA until 12/12/13. Does this mean that no one has looked at anything since October? How do I know if someone decides to work on it? Anyone else have this problem?

Well, sort of same type of problem, I have become addicted to checking ebenifits every day a few times a day since the first of the year. when I was informed that I should have my ratings back by. no such luck, MY PEBLO informed me yesterday that RI is working on Sept. packages, That is when i singed my 618 and sent it up. Only to find out that my package was not accepted untill Oct. This game is getting old, and I quit drinking the kool aid, when I was sent for the MEB, going on close to a year now. well, I guess I am still drawing pay, and hit my 20 in 35 days. even though I am loosing my sanity (if i ever had any) sitting around the office shining a chair with my butt. I did my C&P exams in Aug, and would not want to do that again. It was almost as much fun as sitting on a broke C-130 for 36 hours in Pakistan, in july. It sounds like most everybody on this site has had loads of fun with the VA, and our branch of service testing our stress levels. Someday it will end, hopefully...

Meg as I understand the process when you initially get put on the MEB, you are also suppose to be starting your va claims that day, then it is sent to the va so you get your compensation and pension appointments, then your comp and pen apts are used for your MEB to make its determination to then send to the PEB who then re looks at your stuff and decides if you are for or unfit, from there it goes back the VA for them to start your proposed rating. If you look at my timeline below this your see my date of claim with the va and the MEB started in May then the PEB declared unfit in and sent to the va on oct 7, then the received it oct 8, that is when they now have all your info and the ratings proses actually begins. I'm writing this on my iPhone so it might be a little messed up but does that help you any?

There is really no way to know for sure. I tried going through my PEBLO and the DAV. The most I could be told is that the VA was working on it. I would follow the average wait times pretty close. At the time my package was being processed the average wait time was 120 days, and my ebenefits changed to "Pending Decision Approval" at 124 days.

FWIW, I've now been in the IDES process for a year and a half. My appeal is still awaiting the SECAF, where it's been for the last 6 months and no end in sight. (SECAF was estimated at 6 weeks) After that, I still have the VA reconsideration appeal, which could also be anywhere between 6 weeks and 9 months. That will be at Providence, RI as well.
