MEB Started: 7/8/13
C&P Exams: 8/8/13 - 8/23/13
NARSUM Signed: 9/13/13
Package Sent to PEB: 9/20/13
Providence RI VA Receives request from PEB (UNFIT!): 10/2/13

Ok Gents, here is what I did. I called the VA's 1800 # and was put on hold and given the option of them calling me back, which I did. They called me back in the alloted amount of time. I inquired about VocRehab because since we are still active duty we can get a "memorandum rating" so we can go ahead and apply for services before discharge. She took my info and said I should receive this letter within 10 days and if I dont to call back and use the reference # she provided me. So I'm only assuming that SOMETHING is in there because she was really "textbook" in her answers and she wouldnt say specifically. I will see what this paper will say and I will keep you updated on this. I guess I was trying to back door the system and it SLAMMED in my face. hahahah Anywho.. Stay up!

I recieved a letter in the mail regarding my proposed rating. It said something to the fact that the VA was in fact working on it and that I should be recieving a notification or a letter within 3-4 weeks !! 0_o Talk about the SHUT MOUTH!! geesh.. I do know know why mine is at such a stand still and have not moved in Ebennies or ANYTHING. You guys seems to be moving extremely fast! How many conditions (fit and unfitting) did everyone claim? Maybe that has something to do with it

i have a few things claimed. I was put on PEB for 3 conditions cervical fusion degenertive disk disease , trapezeous atrophy post surgical resurections, and femoral acetabular impingment (hip) post surgery. I was found unfit for those 3 conditions. Through the VA I claimed a whole slew of things. Bilater Hip, Bilateral Shoulder with shoulder surgery, bilateral elbow, bilateral wrist, fracture to hand, bilateral knee, bilateral ankle and feet. Broken ribs, lumbar spine, cervical spine, thorasic spine, headaches, ptsd, anxiety disorders, kidney stones, and blood in urine. I mean I think everyone listed quite a few things for the VA. It may take some time to get through everything with everything going on. Our process isnt stopping but it may be slowed down a little.

My timeline Lejeune Marine as well,
17/18 July: medical and mental exams
Aug 12: Signed Package
Aug 21: Med Board Counselor Christina Told me i was found unfit and stuff was sent to VA
Sept 30: MOL Message Stated PEB accepted and my DU LIMIT code on MOL Changed to Y PEB case Accepted
Oct 1: Nothing from Ebenefits still evidence past due
we can move on, it will happen in due time.

Hello everyone,

I'm sorry for the late reply I thought I would be getting email notifications since I'm too lazy to check my own post 0.o . My Peblo informed me the PEB is still processing packages. Next week I cross my original EAS on the 18th officially hitting my 60 days. Ebenefits for me did update in a timely manner the first couple of weeks going from Gathering to Review of Evidence to Evidence Past Due for Review. It hasn't moved since early September. The wait for the most part has been completely painless. I have not even called to check on the status of my package though that may change once my old EAS passes. In fact my new EAS hasn't posted regardless of the PEB accepted status and extension letter. Back pay here I come!

I have been unable to get a straight answer but I have been told that I am DoD 20% and VA 60%. I don't really have any other insight although I was told that the ratings were sent back to PEB on 01Oct, and that I should get to see them via the PEBLO in about 30days.

My question is: How do they determine the EAS? (Every time I ask this question I am told you take your Leave/PTAD and add it up and that would determine it; However that would mean the day that I sign for the ratings I would be going on terminal/ptad which obviously isn't right.) So how do they determine my EAS.

If I signed rating on 01Nov13, have 25days of leave and 10days PTAD (not 20 according to MED BRD ppl) aka I would have 35days total...

My second question: at what point am I allowed to check out, I have no documentation that I am close to getting out only that I have been found unfit (no paperwork just a verbal notification)

Third question: If in fact I am getting severance when does that get paid out in relation to my EAS?

Forth: I am selected to SSgt but will not be in long enough to actually get pinned, will my severance reflect E-6 base pay times two?

Just out of curiosity, if you haven't received your ratings from the PEBLO, how did you get your proposed ratings?

Sweet talking a VA rep...

That's what I figured, there definitely is some inconsistency with the information you receive on every call. Hopefully I can get some insight on mine when it get's a little closer, thanks for sharing.

I will attempt to answer the questions I know. About the promotion, if you get promoted while on terminal you will get paid as an E-6. I will get that order for you tomorrow once I get to work. Also I've heard that once you signed your ratings that it goes to HQMC and yes they take in to account your leave and what not but you should add an additional 2 weeks on your timeline for the PEB to send it and HQMC to accept it, change your EAS, and return it to you. There is a conditions line that you can recommend your EAS (its not guaranteed) it says something to the fact "I accept these findings..." and then you can add on when you would like to EAS. Again that part is only a suggestion to HQMC.f
I will also get you the order that says your rate 20 days PTAD for involuntary separations, but its at the discretion of the command. I would check out anywhere they would let me check out unofficially if I was you. Thats just me though.

Gotta say good for you with the sweet talk. Did you just call the VA 800 number? I mean its worth a shot for all of us. If you dont mind me asking what are your Claimed conditions? I know everyones stuff is different, but would like to kinda have an estimate. If you dont feel comfortable telling me thats cool too. No worries.

As far as EAS i still dont understand my ptad and terminal plus what? Bec if my eas is changed to my ptad and terminal added up that would mean im gone the day i sign my ratings... Which is not right.

My selection number is over 2200 therefore there is no chence that terminal amd ptad would get me close to pinning on...

Update

Just called the VA to get an update on where my package has been sitting. The representative says they are waiting for my DD214 to finalize the rating. So I suspect very soon I should be getting the call to go review my package.

EAS is essentially what HQMC says it is. They do not have to take account of your leave and all that because you can sell it back if you arent close to your 60 days. In most to all cases they do take that into account and a little buffer to sign off on your package and get it back to you for acceptance. For example, if you get your package back on Nov 1st, with the 25days you have of leave and PTAD combined your EAS will probably be somewhere between the 26th and the first week of Dec. Because once you sign, it has to go back to HQMC and you have to wait for them to change it in the system for S-1 purposes (i.e audits ...). Make sense?

That sucks that you are selected and will get out before it hits the system. It sucks for another Sgt as well because they could have had your spot. LOL! When would you have pinned? I'm not even close, I havent ran a PFT/CFT since 2011.. SMH

Mid to late next year. So they magic in 20-30 days plus your terminal/ptad and boom there is an eas? Lol when do ppl check out then?

I would go to IPAC and talk with them. It is a more streamline approach and they will be able to facilitate all your questions without guestimations from us. I know its not what you want to hear, but it seems like you have a special case here. From what i am told you will remain on medical hold until everything is squared away. And that the military will give you 45 days to check out, as far as your terminal leave and PTAD you should be given the opportunity to use what is earned. But i feel IPAC is your best bet to get the answers you need.

My command had everyone on PEB start checking out ASAP. Usually the ones that got their findings had a new EAS for the first of the following month. As you are required 30 days to be considered a Veteran to collect your VA they always want you out at the end of that month (If I recall that correctly).

HAhah I called the VA number and I guess i got one of the "not so smart" reps. I was told that I wasnt getting a proposed rating or completed claim until they recieve my DD214. I was trying to refrain from asking him if he was correct but I could no longer hold it in. He got frustrated, I got frustrated and ended up hanging up none the less. So yea.. Guess I will try back later. LOL.

Alot of these reps don't understand the Active Duty PEB process. It's very frusterating and leaves us with no answers and more limbo to stress over!

I found out I should have started checking out a couple weeks ago... Also still dont know if I will see SSgt severance pay based on my selection and that I wont be in long enough to get pinned.

How can you check out with out an EAS yet? Is there anyway to turn gear in without an EAS as well?
