So March of 2023 my MEB began, I'm reading over my physical and mental NARSUM and near the end both say that my condition will remain the same in the next 12 months and the next 3 years as well. I am getting Medboarded for Major Depressive Disorder, Adjustment Disorder and "right knee pain" (I had knee surgery 2 years ago and it failed a couple weeks before the MEB started, im also using a cane) And according to Air Force Instruction 36-3212 Section 3.17.3 “a disability will be determined stable when the preponderance of medical evidence indicates the severity of the condition will probably not change enough within the next three years to increase or decrease the disability rating percentage.” And for Air Force Instruction 36-3212...
I am being referred for a NDPEB for a condition that has left me with a permanent profile. I need help understanding what my options are and what the likely outcome will be. I have been in the reserves for 17 years. I am having a hard time choosing what route to take. Can someone explain the pros and cons of each and how i could possibly be effected. I understand that the NDPEB will review my casefile and decide if I am fit/unfit. If I am found unfit what would be the next step? would I just be separated or would i be allowed to medically retire? I am already receiving VA benefits and i understand that the NDPEB and VA are separate. I just want to be sure that I make the best decision.
Good morning all, I hope you all are doing well. Has anyone ran into potential pay issues for VA compensation after IDES is complete? I recently medically retired on 29 March 2025 after going through IDES and recieved 100% P/T and 100% DoD. I was told by my VA Military Service Coordinator (MSC) that I would be paid on 1 May 2025 for VA compensation. However, when I refer to the My VA website, my claims are at the rating phase and have been since the 2nd of April. I am not sure if this is something to be concerned about for pay or if this is normal? I was also informed by another servicemember that retired on the same day that the status is the same for them and they were informed they would also be getting paid on 1 May. This...
Factors That Influence Blood Vitals Blood vitals are not fixed; they can fluctuate due to several factors, including: Age: Older adults may have higher blood pressure and cholesterol. Gender: Hormonal differences influence cholesterol and hemoglobin. Diet: High salt, sugar, and fat intake negatively affects vitals. Hydration: Dehydration lowers blood pressure and increases heart rate. Physical Activity: Regular exercise lowers resting heart rate and improves cholesterol. Stress: Chronic stress raises blood pressure and glucose. Medical Conditions: Diabetes, thyroid disease, lung disease, and heart disorders alter vitals. Medications: Drugs for hypertension, diabetes, or cholesterol directly impact measurements. Lifestyle Strategies...

End of January 2025, Psyciatrist diagnosed me with Bipolar 1 disorder. Provider wrote NARSUM and submitted to local board. Early February, local board decided to move forward to IRILO Late February, met with command, they recommended do not retain. March IRILO recommended proceed to full MEB April, C&P evaluations were completed early Early June got VA appointment summary as well as NARSUM back to review and sign. Mid August results of med board came back recommending medical retirement DOD:50%, VA:100% Awaiting orders in two weeks, then 15 days to out-process on top of terminal leave. All in all very frustrating stressful process, things definitely took a while from the VA appointments to finally finding out a decision. Thankfully my...
Hello everyone, I'm currently active duty in the MEB/IRILO process. My situation is complex and I'd really appreciate some insight/ advice. My major issue began last year with severe depression, insomnia, and suicidal ideation/intent-- which led to three hospitalizations. Civilian providers who spent significantly more time evaluating me diagnosed me with Bipolar 2 and I've been on lithium since last year, but my base providers documented Borderline Personality Disorder instead based on selective history and records that were full of errors that were known but still used to justify that diagnosis. That diagnosis was entered before a full evaluation or differential diagnostic evaluation and later used to push me towards AdSep rather...
Hello All, I am currently an AGR on the Airforce side with 9 years active service and 17 total years of service I hit 18 years in April. I currently have been diagnosed with diverticulitis and ulcer colitis and submitted all medical documentation. I receive infusions every 8 weeks for my condition. I am very nervous now since our MDG was throwing around terms like medical retirement and medical discharge. What should my next steps be? I recently looked at my medical status and on my AF469 the status says pending MEB. I haven't received any call, mail, or emails about anything changing to pending MEB. What should my next steps be? What am I looking at?

Hi, I just received my DA 199. My disposition states that my condition is rated above 75% and permanent. It does not state that I am chapter 61 however. In which, here is my background: US Army Reserves CPT/O3E 24 years of service 5983 Total Points 100% VA Rating Above 75% DoD Rating (70% is combat related) I am reading a lot of materials, and it is unclear what I should expect and entitled to as well. Therefore, my questions are Am I eligible for disability retirement pay? If so, when do i receive it? If not, what do am I eligible for retirement payment? Does this qualify me for chapter 61? If so, what are the benefits of chapter 61? Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I try to plan for the future.

Hi all, I’m a Marine Corps E-8 in the Reserves, currently in the IDES process, and I’ve had ongoing issues with my Line of Duty (LOD) and Incapacitation (INCAP) pay. I’m looking for advice from anyone who’s been through this, and I’m also trying to find a lawyer who handles INCAP/LOD cases. I was placed on an LOD in June 2022 after a serious accident with multiple injuries. I was hospitalized, went through inpatient rehab, and was not cleared to return to drill until August 2024. My INCAP pay was originally supposed to expire in February 2023, but no one in my unit counseled me about requesting an extension or continuing benefits. I remained incapacitated and unable to work in my civilian job until at least February 2024...

I am currently 9 months from 20 years of service, 11 years TAFMS in the air national guard and currently am rated at 100% va (70% for ptsd from deployment to Afghanistan). Long story short my AGR orders were ended because of a dui which happened to be later dismissed on the legal side due to a 4th ammendment violation. They have left the door open to return, but I have emotionally moved on. Should I be seeking/nudging a medical retirement for my PTSD diagnosis? I believe with my daily symptoms that I would get at least 30% DOD rating, but I am just not knowledgeable enough with IDES and the Medboard to know. Or do I stay quiet and finish my current enlistment and collect my guard retirement? Is CRSC a stretch in my case...

I did about 8 years of service, 4 years active and 4 national guard. When I got out of Active duty I applied for VA disability and was granted 80% then later given 100% P&T TDIU I notified the National Guard so that they could send me to through the MEB, but my superiors did not want to. I kept drilling like normal and just got counseled with DA Form 4856 saying I was unfit, but nothing else was done and I was(and still am) clueless of the process. I pushed and pushed and eventually contacted IG because nothing was being done, and I was about to ETS. They contacted my superiors and I guess they let them have it(because I later got yelled at too), and they gave me an "uncharacterized" (Y) which is administrative separation. That was...
