My husband received a narrative summary from the PEBLO today. He already has a rating of 70% P&T from the VA but he has been sent to MEB for the same condition. He elected IDES instead of LDES based on the responses to my last post here back in April. I was made to understand that they could potentially lower his rating at the VA based in his MEB exam. In the narrative summary they stated he does not meet retention standards and it is “highly unlikely that he would meet retention standards...
Good morning, Wanted to get some info on my process. I am 100% rated by the VA, but was medically discharged at 20% in 2010. I am seeking a retro medical retirement with merit because I am arguing my condition met the 40% disability requirement. My question is will I be gaining anything? My understanding is if I am given a medical retirement a portion of my current disability will now be taxed but then I would qualify for Tricare and can then drop my work medical insurance. So my net gain...
My situation is I received an article 15 for trying to commit suicide, I was sent to a mental health hospital for 3 days for a baker act. Before I went I was scared about loosing my job and scared to be away from my family so I told them I was lying about it in hopes they would leave me alone. Fast forward my mental health facility diagnosed me with an adjustment disorder and put me on anti depressants. I felt like I wasn’t getting the care I needed so I asked my pcm for a referral off...
Hello everyone, I wanted to reach out through this forum because I'm in need of some advice. on 21 July I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia by the Rheumatologist and my MEB was initiated by my PCM on 27 Aug however it was returned due to MRDP cannot be determined for stabilized condition when definitive diagnosis and treatment/prognosis are pending completion of workup. On 31 Aug it was reinitiated by my PCM as the medical documents were all in there however it was returned again stating...
What are some interesting or useful benefits from being medically separated from the military? Feel free to drop any links as I'm sure people in the future from now will use this information.
It took me a while today to decide if I was going to post this or not. Honestly, I am scared out of my mind right now. So much is at stake, and I am not sure I am making the right decision. I am sorry for the novel, but I wanted portray what I have going on as best I could. 2011, Afghanistan, on a planned three day convoy providing bounding over watch (I am not an Infantry type) that ended up taking 11 days in total, the MATV I was driving barrel rolled down a hill after the ground gave...
I'm wondering if TLE (temporary lodging expenses) are authorized during my final move after a medical Retirement. I am looking to stay in a hotel during my out-processing. Do we get the typical 10 days in a hotel during a normal PCS?
If you have multiple surgeries on the same issue is it possible to request a med board for yourself if it isn’t initiated for you?
Hello all, just some background on myself. I've been in the Army Reserve for 6.5 years as a Heavy Equipment Operator with one deploymen. I have approximately 1.5 left on my 8 year contract, with NO plans to reenlist. I'm afraid that been rated by the VA at 100 P&T, I will be seen as medically unfit. Based on my rating and my injuries listed, what do you guys think my fate will be? Again I'm seeking knowledge as I'm very new to this. Thanks in advance! Following up my tour I received a 100%...
I got into the coast guard with a medical waiver. Since then I have recently injured that shoulder and had to have the same surgery I had before I joined. As of now I feel I unconfident doing my job in the coast guard without further harming myself. My TLD orders expire in a couple months and was wondering what my odds are of staying in. Should I talk to the doctor about my my ability to continue. Let them tell me what they think first or tell them what I feel about it. Also can you request...
Good day, I am seeking information on what to expect for an air force MEB. Here's some back ground information. On 03 Dec 20, I began a process of lab work and procedures to finally come to the determination as of yesterday 13 Jan 21 that my diagnoses is Crohn's disease. I am in a unique situation, as that this diagnoses comes after I have already Final out'ed my current duty station on orders to Langley, and I have been seen while I'm on leave enroute still at my current station...
I was medically separated in 2017 as an E8 with 19 years of service. My DOD rating was 10% and VA 90% (now 100). I have combat related disabilities and would like to change it to a medical retirement to receive combat related special compensation. How can I get this reconsidered?
So I am at the point of the process where I have submitted my NARSUM on 11 December and my PEBLO pushed it forward on 14 December, here we are almost a month later and still no DA 199, has anyone here experienced the same painstaking waiting game? I got my 100% T&P rating from the VA, I know I'll be retired (even with almost 22 years of total service). In my mind with only 1 condition unfitting for continued service what could possibly be a logical reason for the lengthy wait?
getting worried - has any received the csrc selection letter. tnanks
Warning: This is LONG, but well worth it. You might want to grab a beer or some popcorn before sitting down for this, or skip to the RECAP. I'm an AD AF pilot. I’ve been patrolling this site for a year now and I’ve learned some valuable lessons about both the DoD and VA systems. I wanted to share my experience and hopefully provide some situational awareness to those looking for help or just starting out in this process. For background, my current medical state is Rheumatoid Arthritis...
ok so i had ulcerative colitis at 17 yo and joined at 19 i told my recruiter but the recruiter never wrote anything down so the army has no clue i had this prior before enlisting. i have flares ups now and am seeking help and they found out what i have and want to get me a meb. will the army ever find out that i had this before joining and if they do will i be in trouble? thank you in advance
Hello. A little background on the situation. My husband is 100% P&T for PTSD, I am 70% disabled. We recently applied for the Caregiver Program and were denied citing that my husband does not meet the qualifications to require daily assistance with supervision, protection, or instruction. He does not have any issues with ADL but he does not drive, and cannot communicate effectively with his doctors at the VA. This has resulted in his inability to receive medication or treatment from the VA. I...
I was med-boarded from the Army for major depression in 2018. Depression was my only service-disqualifying condition, rated at 50% by the DOD and VA. Since I also claimed other conditions during the med-board process, the VA rated me at 100% combined disability (subject to re-evaluations) right out of the gate. A few months later, I got a new and revised ratings packet in the mail from the VA. A few ratings had changed, been consolidated, dropped, etc. but the new packet contained some...
Need advise from members. I am currently in the process of a MEB, C&P exams complete. After speaking with my PEBLO a few days ago I was informed that there is a chance I will be found fit for duty because I will make it to age 60 and will be able to draw my MDAY retirement. I was boarded for bilateral hip and a knee replacement in addition to back issues. I thought it was odd that my PEBLO stated that before the results are even completed. I will turn 60 next month and want to complete the...
Does anyone know if the PEB office is opened? I tried calling but no response. Thanks in advance for the answers.
Good morning, I am a reservist who will reach 20 good years this June of 2021. I recently received a 100% permanent and total rating from the VA. I was planning on normal retirement, but now I’m considering a medical evaluation board. 1) will a Med board put my VA rating at risk? * also when I informed my CDR my intent of going through a MED Board he said this would take too long and wants me to find another unit. This doesn’t sound right to me. Where can I get legal advice...
Hello all! I'm a rookie in this forum, but didn't know this existed. I started my PEB back in March 2017 and through failure of my reserve wing medical folks and my unit this process hats taken nearly 4 yrs. I was recently found unfit for duty by the Secretary of the Air Force board and even though I had an LOD for the reasoning, but since I was prior active duty Army they found it to be a preexisting issue although aggravated by a ceilings collapsing on my head and temporarily got better...
I’m looking for advise, my situation is I received an art 15 for a dumb situation and my command forced me to volunteer sep. I’m in the middle of getting into an amro board. I have a bulging disk causing severe nerve damage in my legs, I have deformation to both my feet, issues with knees and shoulder. I also have mental health issues but my mental health providers won’t diagnose me with anything but put me on anti depression pills. Is there a reason why they won’t diagnose me? I am...
Can anyone suggest a Lawyer to represent me in CAVC and maybe BVA?
So my PUEBLO just emailed me saying this. RD dated 12/21/20 proposed 90% S/C $2044.18 monthly compensation for married veteran. Rating decision and Benefit Estimate Letter is This is a rough estimate from the VA. Once we have the DOD rating, we will have a complete rating from the VA. So my question is i know this is proposed but will my 1 claim that im up for board for be added to the 90% not.
