I hope this is not the case but I am going to take leave which will be nice.
Nice yes. but you do realize that you are almost done and that's pure money you're giving up? Think about sticking it out or taking as little as possible so your terminal leave is as long as possible. Time's gonna move fast for you very soon.

Does anyone elses dashboard say Days remaining 0. Unknown, but the days ahead of schedule change daily, but nothing else?

VA is done with my proposed ratings since 14 Nov. My unfit memo was 5 Aug.
My unfit memo was 5 Aug as well, however, I am not ahead of schedule on my dashboard, I am 25 days BEHIND schedule and I am at pending decision approval. There has been nothing but retardedness with my case it seems. I spoke to my MSC yesterday to see what was going on and he looked in a few systems. Basically, the VA put in a few erroneous remarks, my case sat and did nothing for quite some time and it is just getting some movement which is behind everyone else that started with me in MAR that he is working he said. I just love this system! It has actually been the army side that has created the unexpected delays for me! Missed every goal just about.

Dickie G, that' 20 days after mine. I'll be hoping you are done before Christmas!! (You, too, Chief!)

Shanecameback and Dickie G,
I am really wishing Santa shows up and delivers all three of our 199's by Christmas!! I think your chances are a lot better than mine but at least I am still getting paid.

Yes he will get DOD pay until his VA ratings are finalized which can take up to 5 months post retirement, once VA kicks in DOD will stop (if VA is higher)
That is interesting, I was briefed that if I was going to elect for VA pay, expect no payments for up to 4 months with backpay at the end. I was never told about DOD pay kicking in to cover the gap. Interesting and good news for those who need it.

So some information for you once you get your DA-199. Once you sign it, they send it back, and you wait for your official dates to leave, this took ,me 1 business week. Once you receive those dates, you have 10 business days to quickly have your DA31 for the transition leave completed as well as the commanders memorandum to counsel you on leaving the military.

After that you can pick up your ETS / Retirement orders from your respective location, for Ft. Wainwright it is MPD. After your ten business days you have ten business days to clear and final out, then you have a 60 day window on when you can completely retire from the military after using your terminal leave and PTDY.

I emailed my PEBLO to ask about any expected delays over Christmas. This was his response:

"Sir,
Expect process to slow down during the holidays due to reduced manning.
Happy Holidays!!!"

Happy holidays to you too, bud. lol

Well I have made it finally to the PEB stage of my journey and waiting on ratings now from Seattle.

Started this process 6/27/2013
MEB phase ended on 11/21/2013
PEB Phase begun on 11/21/2013
Unfit Memo on 11/26/2013
Sent to DoVA ratings on 11/26/2013

Whewwwwwww, it's been a long journey with this. My actual start of this process was 02/2009. It just took that long to get them to finally admit defeat and just send me through the MEB/PEB IDES process. I told them long during my last deployment I'm hurt and won't exit out unless an MEB is done. I finally weared them down just last year for the state surgeon to gather all the docs and send them off to Florida just this summer.

So if you are getting tired after just 18 months then you are being weak as I'm close to 4 years in this process. You got to have your gear strapped tight to ride the bull for that long. Just believe in yourself and ask yourself you are doing this not just for yourself, but for your family, and the soldiers that come behind you so they don't get screwed.

Good deal my case has been at the VA for over 4 months. I hope your case goes faster than mine.

US - "Sir, do you think I'll end up getting punched below the belt?"
PEBLO - "50-50 chance you'll get hit below the belt. No information on when it'll be, or if it'll happen, but you can expect the possibility....HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!"

I don't know what's better, my PEBLO ignoring every Soldier who tries to contact him, or yours who is so cheery I want to introduce them to Throat Punch Thursday...
Hang in there, Thunderchuck...:)

So I did my courtesy call on Wednesday. My Peblo followed with get in here and pick up your packet. So I did, and signed my 199 this morning. He said I should hear back from Transpoc tomorrow. He said he has connections up there.

That's awesome condesulation, hope everything worked out in your favor. What was your timeline?

Well, got a call from my PEBLO that my case has finished the review and will be forwarded back to the ratings department from where it was in July. I asked if the clock continues on or starts back over. He had no idea.

Any chance somebody knows how many cases a rater can finish in a day?

Do you want a snarky sarcastic answer? I'm pretty good at those.

I don't know the real answer. I'm sure there isn't one. Isn't that the common response? All the raters are different, some take longer than others. I'm pretty sure they have a big digital board at the VA with number that says the maximum amount of cases they can process in a day before they reach a point of efficiency that will cause at least one person to not be needed and therefore be laid off. As long as they process one case under that number they are all safe. I'm sorry, I think I just inadvertantly gave the snarky sarcastic answer.

I expect nothing less from you, and you have no idea thanks.

For real though, I'm not sure anyone can know the answer to this question. I'm just trying to embrace the mindset that says "Each case is different, each rater is different." If they knew how many cases a rater could finish in a day then couldn't they hypothetically tell each person the exact number of days that their case will be? Either they know this and aren't telling us or they don't know.

Yeah I know your right, just hoping someone has some info. DAV told me projected date 29th Dec+\- 15 business days.

Sorry, not trying to be a negative Nancy. The DAV's answer is better than no answer, though.
