There still will be a VA offset (waiver) dollar for dollar in the amount of VA compensation. You keep any residual retired pay (left over). CRDP will restore the longevity portion of retired pay, BUT the combination of CRDP and residual retired pay cannot exceed the longevity portion of retired pay.

In most cases like yours, the retiree ends up with:
—All their VA comp
—An amount equal to the longevity amount paid by DFAS.

Ohh I understand now. Come retirement age, you get the one benefiting you best (DoD or longevity). Okay ; I think that’s the same thing with CRDP and CRSC, my retirement class say DFAS will give you the best one assuming you qualify for CRSC.

Curious. My MEB packet was submitted for review on 11 JAN (ANG). I requested LDES since I'm already 100% P&T (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome). Did you have any issues/pushback going LDES over IDES? How was the overall process? I want to get my ducks in a major row.

Your pay from DFAS (CRDP or CRSC & possibly residual retired pay) will not exceed the longevity portion of your retirement pay.

The computation of the gross amount of disability retired pay uses the higher of the DOD disability percentage OR the longevity multiplier.

Initially I got a little push back from my PEBLO but it was no issue with my command. I basically explained that I had no desire to go back through the C&P process with the VA and that I had been receiving treatment at the VA. The PEB ultimately used all the records from my VA treatment and military exams to make their determination of percentages. I ended up requesting a formal PEB following my initial results because the board said my injuries were not combat related and placed me on the TDRL. The formal PEB subsequently over turned the combat portion stating that all were as a result of combat but due to regulation for the PTSD I had to initially go on the TDRL. Overall I'm glad I went LDES because I didn't have to go through the C&P process again and my previous VA determination remained the same.
