Yes that's the back pay from the VA limited to the start of the Pact act, but what about those who were med retired in lets say 2015. Its been over 6 years. Will the military side back pay through the retirement date, even though it wasn't a valid condition until the pact act was signed?Yeah, August period:
"The PACT Act is the most significant expansion of Veteran benefits and care in more than three decades, empowering VA to help millions of toxic exposed Veterans and their survivors. Since President Biden signed the PACT Act into law Aug. 10, more than 213,000 PACT Act-related claims for benefits have been submitted. Additionally, more than 959,000 Veterans have received VA’s new toxic exposure screenings, with nearly 39% reporting a concern of exposure."

I concur with you on this 100%That is unlikely.
Neither the DoD, or the VA is going to make retroactive payments for (quoting you): " ... through the retirement date, even though it wasn't a valid condition until the pact act was signed?"

Been waiting over 6 months for mine.So how long does it take to get CRSC backpay once you get your first payment and how far do they goes back if you were denied the first time
45-60 days following the first payment, just depends on how far back they have to go and if they actually started the audit on your retro pay. As for how far back, if the condition that you put in for was originally denied and you are now approved for it, it would be based on the original denial date, up to six years OR retirement date OR the date of awarding of condition OR signing of the Act that made a condition into law, i.e., The PACT Act would only get retro to August 2022, WHICHEVER IS MORE RECENT.So how long does it take to get CRSC backpay once you get your first payment and how far do they goes back if you were denied the first time
Call DFAS, shouldn't be more than 90 days MAX, I haven't seen one longer than that UNLESS the audit was not started automatically, which, knowing DFAS, does occur more often than not :/Been waiting over 6 months for mine.
I call every week to 10 days. I've been told it was started and finished once back in July on the 7th I believe. I never saw my retro statement so I started calling again. The people I talk to leave me on hold for a LONG time usually while they talk to their supervisor about it and eventually come back and say it should be about 10 more days.Call DFAS, shouldn't be more than 90 days MAX, I haven't seen one longer than that UNLESS the audit was not started automatically, which, knowing DFAS, does occur more often than not :/
Figures - call someone in your Congressional Delegation, put their asses to work for a changeI call every week to 10 days. Called this morning. The most recent update is it’s being worked and 17 September was the last movement on it. I asked the gentleman (Darren maybe) if it was normal for an audit to take this long. It should be this difficult. One year of retro pay. Why is it that other individuals I personally know have gotten retro pay for larger amounts faster that were approved in the same timeframe and submitted to DFAS at the same time. His answer was it was dependent on what technician gets the audit. My interpretation of that is some are lazy some are not. Maybe one day I’ll get my retro payFigures - call someone in your Congressional Delegation, put their asses to work for a change![]()
Update, I actually just received a rating of %60 crsc. My effective date is Jun 13. I initially applied in 2014. One year after I was eligible. So, here we are 11 years latter, and in my case since I was initially denied in 2014 and approved now2024... thats 11 years back pay. Lucky me.That is unlikely.

Can't get more than 6 years of backpay. FYI.Update, I actually just received a rating of %60 crsc. My effective date is Jun 13. I initially applied in 2014. One year after I was eligible. Have you spoken to DFAS? Your service can put whatever date on the approval on the authorization but DFAS ultimately has the authority to adjust it in accordance with the law that limits CRSC retro payments to 6 years.I initially applied in 2014. Grandfathered
Is your back pay effective date jun 13 or the date the pact act was approved?Update, I actually just received a rating of %60 crsc. My effective date is Jun 13. I initially applied in 2014.
