    Severance Pay

Also one tidbit of info. The higher the amount the longer it takes. There are several levels of approval needed the higher the amount it. So think of it as this way... If you had 20k coming via severance, you would get that amount processed sooner by DFAS than if your severance was 200k

Wondering if I have a chance?

You can. it will take years though. Also, understand you are fighting for Tricare mainly. Any chapter 61 pension earned will be offset by any VA compensation you receive. So your net pay wold be the same as now. There is a possibility for a little more compensation but it will be capped at...

    Severance Pay

Yes very normal. You can ask DFAS the status if you want via phone call. Their is a special division that processes unique one time pay stuff like this. Same thing happens for CRSC approvals for the backpay.

Migraines and TBI - Missing Rating?

So its more of an uphill battle now. If you had a goal on what you wanted to be found unfit then at each stage anything that wasn't in line with that goal you could have appealed. In this case the Migraines showing fitting in the NARSUM. You should have submitted a rebuttal that you believe...

    MEB Timeline/Questions

Okay since you aren't very close to hitting 20 years I would focus on treatment. It's okay to want to get out but if the doctors feel that is your primary goal they will wonder if you are being honest about your symptoms. Regardless of whether they put you in full IDES or return you to...

Reach out to your Ombudsman. They should be able to steer you in the right direction.

    What to expect next?

P3 means IDES. Basically you just have to keep seeking treatment. If your docs don't think you can get back to where you need to be then they will issue a P3.

Migraines and TBI - Missing Rating?

I would just appeal to FPEB. You can always withdraw it. In my opinion JAG isn't that great of an option. Too many Soldier verse too few JAG personnel. That's why I continue to recommend private dedicate IDES attorneys. This is too important to leave up to chance.

Retire vs Medboard over 20. What's the difference?

There is no benefit for 15 year letter if immediately medically retired via Chapter 61 pension. Even if they did it wouldn't help you because you need to 20 year letter to utilize your NG pension at age 60 to get concurrent receipt of VA pay. So your only way to increase compensation is via...

Retire vs Medboard over 20. What's the difference?

If you reach 20 AFS then it doesn't matter. You can't get more than the earned longevity + VA disability pay. So whether medically retired with 30% or 75% you total pay won't change. You already max out compesnation by getting all of your VA pay and all of your earned longevity pay at 50%...

Migraines and TBI - Missing Rating?

So that's not how it works necessary. Each condition is decided. If your TBI is separate and cause you to be unfit you can request a FPEB to have that condition found unfitting. Where are you in the process? Typically, you know which direction the iPEB is going to go with based on the...

Combat Codes and how they relate to ratio for Length of Service Retirement Multipliers

I don't have it pulled up but you can if you like. The reason you need DOD% higher than longevity is that if you are paid based on longevity then your not being paid for a tax exempt reason. So it needs to be based on DOD% since that is what is combat related and causes your pension to be...

Combat Codes and how they relate to ratio for Length of Service Retirement Multipliers

You probably already got the answer but here it is: You need to have a combat related condition. Just one that is unfitting and then its all tax free with one caveat. Your DOD% must be higher than your longevity as well. So if your longevity is 59%. Then you need your DOD total % to be 60%...

How to Ensure 20-Year Regular Retirement Instead of Medical Retirement

Just delay, delay, delay. There are no guarantees. So save your leave. Appeal at each stage and drag it out to hit 20AFS. Don't count on COAD or anyone helping you. You will probably be kicked out due to medical but that won't matter financially as long as you can get to 20AFS.

    MRDP Question

What your rank? How many years in service? Break it down for AD/Good Years if you aren't all AD. What's your MOS? I assume Army but are you Active Duty, Reserves or Guard or AGR? Knowing where you are at in your career will help as the advice can changed based on what those answers are.

Reserve retirement MEB rated 60% Army medical and concurrent receipt

If retired immediately via chapter 61 then you get your pay immediately but any chapter 61 pay can be offset by any VA compensation you receive. What is the value of your pension? How many points? What is your rating for VA disability? If your chapter 61 pension is greater than the value of...
