Active USAF - Tinker AFB - MH MEB timeline

Who did you get the information from where PED determined you unfit? Also did va confirm ratings were completed on their end?

I feel like I’m getting no clear answers from any entity. Every one give the generic response of we’re just waiting.
I got the info from my PEBLO, and the VA line at 1(800)-827-1000 said there was a note in my case that said 'awaiting PEB/IPEB'. My PEBLO at Tinker has been a huge help for me. Maybe try scheduling a face to face with you rep?

XX XXX 2025 - Orders generated
XX XXX 2025 - Final out
XX XXX 2025 - DD214 acquired

Total Time from IRILO: 287 Days
Total time actually under the full MEB (after receiving FL4): 207 Days and counting...

NOTE:

If you want a copy of your C&P exams, and TOL is shut down; you need to submit a release of records (SF180) to release your ENTIRE medical record for your WHOLE CAREER to yourself (Your personal email).

Here's the catch: you need to wait and call your eval provider (VES for me) and check to see if the exams are reviewed and submitted to the VA. And then call the VA at 1(800)-827-1000 (you need a VA account) to confirm that the VA has the records are either QA-ing in DC or are processing your claim. As long as the VA says they received your exams, you're chilling. Your DBQ's have been sent to BOTH the VA and the DOD.

NOTE: The DBQ's where a WAYS down buried in the record (page 388 - 411 out of 556 pages) so Ctrl + F "VES" (or whoever did your exams) could help, otherwise get ready to scroll.

This is because your DBQ's go to two places (if on active duty):
The VA --because they requested the exam.
And the DOD --because they maintain your ENTIRE health record while you are on active duty.

This is why TOL used to work before April 1st, because unlike MHS Genesis, TOL actually keeps ALL of your medical record, not just certain tests and notes.

I'm hoping to hear back soon! We got our first FSS emails on the same day but I called the VA claim status line today and still nothing, all they can tell me is that they've received my VA exams and all the necessary paperwork but no one has worked on it yet. Congrats on your ratings!

Thank you so much. I’m just glad it’s all over now.
I’m sorry you haven’t been assigned a rater yet, just know you’re almost done. And once your claim closes everything falls into place REALLY fast

I'll make a separate post with my complete timeline in November once my terminal is done and I have my official DD214.

Other than that its been a blast, I'm just glad its over. And I am thankful to everyone here on the forum, and at the Tinker PEBLO and my chain of command for helping me through this. I wish everyone on this forum the best!

Not OP, but it's generally based on the 15 days to out process, amount of leave you have + any TDY days your commander gives.
In my case, I got my retirement orders in April but due to my large number of leave days combined with TDY my commander gave, I didn't retire until end of August.

Just a FYI: when on TDRL you main goal should be to keep everything stable until you can get it converted to PDRL especially if you don't have any PDRL condition outside of your TDRL condition. Going to school, getting a job, not seeking treatment at the VA, not taking medication are all grounds to reduce you from TDRL 70% down to as little as 0%. So its best to not make any changes and keep things steady until you get rated 6 months after you are out. Also, if they reduce it and there isn't a good reason make sure to appeal!

TDRL is scary because it gives Soldiers a false sense of security. If you are careful you could end up with a 1 time severance check, no tricare insurance and thanks for trying instead of a medical retirement. So treat TDRL like like IDES (light) so you need to have that mentality until you get PDRL.

Lastly, if you don't get contacted after 6 monhts of being out make sure to reach out to the TDRL folks and ask them when you will be reviewed. I you do nothing and they forget to change you over to PDRL within the 3 year timeline you fall off the retirement list and lose everything meaning no more retirement or benefits if they don't convert it to PDRL.

Will do, I don't plan on changing anything anyway. I'm tired and drawn out. I've been dealing with my medical issues and working for over 3 years now's and just need a break. I plan on taking at LEAST the next 2+ years easy, no work, no school, just seeking treatment. I desperately need a break.

I'm going to continue treatment with the VA and look to try other medical avenues for my condition to help, like a medical card to help with sleep, (after my DOR in November) and a new kind of medication that uses ketamine that my base psychiatrist recommended (as a last resort) to hopefully help with PTSD if nothing else helps. the last 3 years its been hard to keep up with life and living, so I'm gonna look at my options with things like SSDI and see if its possible to be a stay at home dad in my future, because I won't have the bandwidth to be present like I need to be for a family and work.

I'll find hobbies to keep myself busy with so I'm not just laying in bed looking at the ceiling all day like I have been, but I just want to try and get in a better headspace so I can be a good dad later in life. I've spent 3 years staving off a med board so I can serve as long as possible at the cost of my health. It's time I focus on myself.

You're almost done! Quick question, did u choose ur DOR? It looks like it was about 3 months later from your signing.. I'm hoping to be gone a month after signing mine.
as the previous reply stated the DOR is calculated as (15 days to out process) + (the days of leave you want to take as terminal) + (any permissive TDY, skillbridge, etc).

I have 50 days of leave that I took as ALL terminal instead of selling it [kind of regretting that I didn't sell the leave] so that's 55 days of terminal leave + 15 days to out process = 70 days from order generation for my DOR.

If you decline to pursue ANY permissive TDY, and choose to sell ALL of your leave, then you will get out around 15 days after your order generation.

Oh wow, interesting. I would only take terminal if my DOR/DOS was like 2 months out from the date orders recieved. Id only have about 36 days of leave by the time ill get my orders (NOV hopefully), so ill definitely sell if id be out sooner. Did you get advised on the dates?

Imnot sure by what you mean by advised?

Once you accept ratings:

1. You tell PEBLO how much PTDY/Terminal you're taking the same day you accept ratings
2. PEBLO reaches out to your command to cross reference and obtain approval for PTDY/Terminal
3. PEBLO tells AFPC how much leave/terminal you're taking to your equivalent of AFPC (the branch-wide organization that generates orders)
4. The order-generators do that weird calculation previously mentioned
5. DOR/DOS is generated and Orders are loaded

so you can predict when your DOR/DOS is going to be based on how much PTDY/Terminal you plan on taking. But you won't officially know until orders are generated
