Chances?

My husband is currently waiting his results of an IPEB. We are on week 8 of waiting. He will have 17 years of active duty in May of this year. His PMOS is 0369. What we are wondering is, seeing he's been in almost 17 years, what the chances of being retained on Permenant Limited Duty Status are? He suffers from headaches (that never go away), migraines, vertigo and short term memory loss. There are plenty of places he can work fine as a non-deployable grunt. We just wonder if he has a chance at that or will more than likely be retired. We want to stay AD until 20 years is up, obviously, that is in our best interest. Also, is it normal for the board to take this long for an IPEB? Thanks in advance.

Hard to tell with little information givin. If the commanders lettter supports RTD then it weighs in that direction.

His non-medical assesment from the Command supported him being retained from what we could tell. It basically stated he completes all tasks assigned but is essentially non-deployable which is somewhat detrimental to being an 0369.

Another factor is the needs of the Service and shortages in his MOS. I would tend to think that if he can hold down a billet CONUS, it would free up a deployable Marine for duty. It is hard to judge, I tend to think these decisions are somewhat arbitrary. A good service record would help, too.

Hope it all goes well.

Thanks everyone. He spoke with a PEBLO today and was told his board os over, it's in the quality control phase and we should know something by next week. We figure him being retained is a crap shoot at this point, a 50/50 chance. Thanks again, I'll update when we get the results.

Just wanted to update. First board came back at 20%. We said no and asked for reconsideration. Well, reconsideration came back today and he was awarded 50%. We couldn't be any happier. Thanks for all your support and help. This site is a God send for people needing guidance and help through the process.

Congratulations on a 50% rating! It's great to hear it came back with something you are happy with. :D
