CRSC Estimate Request

Hello, I should receive my proposed ratings very soon and I am preparing for my DOD rating to either be a 80% or 90%. I would like help comparing these two ratings in a CSRC calculation to determine if it's worth fighting for a higher rating while I am still in or if it does not make a difference. Is their other scenarios besides CSRC I am not thinking of that these ratings make a difference? Rating in question is DOD MEB referred PTSD (50% or 70%) and Migraines (50%). As always, very appreciative of the help!

Scenario 1.
1. High 3 Pay: $4562
2. My DoD disability rating is 80%
3. 13.5
4. $4337 (includes everything) - 100% VA, SMC-K, Married w/ 1 child under 18
5. Expecting approval of 50% PTSD after MEB. Would my referred 50% Migraines fall into this as well?
6. I don’t qualify for any other retirement.

Scenario 2.
1. High 3 Pay: $4562
2. My DoD disability rating is 90%
3. 13.5
4. $4337 (includes everything) - 100% VA, SMC-K, Married w/ 1 child under 18
5. Expecting approval of 70% PTSD after MEB. Would my referred 50% Migraines fall into this as well?
6. I don’t qualify for any other retirement.

I apologize if I made this confusing.

Respectfully,
Bighugh

Backdoor way to estimate is just estimate your 13.5 year earned longevity pension amount. and add that to your VA compensation amount. That is the most you can get from CRSC. Then take that amount and subtract from it your chapter 61 pension. If there is money leftover that's how much you are losing due to the VA offset. Then just use the VA tables to see what your pay would be for CRSC. You will be capped at the leftover amount so you just want your CRSC to be high enough to reach that cap.

Also, DOD% is maxed out at 75% so it doesn't matter if your DOD% is 80% or 90%.

I tried figuring this out but got lost tbh.
13.5 years from medical high 3 calculator is $1542

So VA $4337 + $1542 = $5879
Is my max CRSC $1542 or $5879?

Now subtracting that from my chapter 61 pension is where I'm completely lost unfortunately.

Is this the CRSC table that I need to use? I'm Veteran, Spouse, & 1 Child

I'm not an expert on CRSC calculations, I'll leave that to @Provis - but based on your time in service and high 3, the most you can receive in CRSC would be roughly $1500-$1550 (estimate)
In order to max out, you should aim for 70% CRSC (or more).

So the max is $1,542 if that is the value of your earned pension. That's not the case for everyone. If your Chapter 61 pension is larger than your VA then you get the remaining balance. This is typically for officers who have higher pay.

CRSC uses the same pay tables as the VA.
