I’m stationed in Germany (KMC area) and got moved to a desk job last September because I can’t do my MOS (88M) anymore due to ulcerative colitis. I had a major flare in 2023 and was offered a medboard then, but I had just signed my overseas orders and didn’t want to start the process. I’ve mostly been in remission since, but I’ve started getting that burning feeling again, and I still deal with urgency, especially during PT or any kind of stress. Even though my labs and scopes look okay, I can’t function in my normal role. I can’t go on missions, and I can’t even get through a PT test without having to run to the bathroom. I’m on Lialda 1.2g twice a day. They’re starting the medboard process now and I’m trying to figure out what the timeline looks like out here. Also, if I want to do a SkillBridge, how do I even get that started from overseas? Any tips on setting that up? how do people figure out housing and jobs when they’re medboarding overseas? Losing the military income and trying to plan from Germany feels like a lot my wife and I don’t have any family to go back to. Also, does anyone know what kind of VA rating I could be looking at with UC? I have several other things to claim but with UC I’ve had one major flare and ongoing symptoms that affect my ability to do my job. Any advice or experiences would really help.
