IPEB

Hi all reason for the posting im currently active duity army i just got my IPEB result back and i was rated 30% disabilty from the informal board. I am currently an e-5 with only 4 years the peb recmonded me for perment reitremnt. More less my question is how often does the PDA over turn the peb results and also how long will it take to get my clearning msg so i can get out of here.

If you accepted the findings, you have to only be concerned if they grab your case as part of the quality control process. If they do not, they should approve your case in a few weeks and then you will have to out process and clear post. Depending on your command you may be able to take permissive TDY in addtion to leave in excess of 60 days.

Best of luck in your transition and remember to pass this site along to others who might benefit.

Were you asked to sign paperwork that was being sent to MEB.

I was told the hospital was the IMEB. Then when the hospital said it was ok to send the paperwork to the MEB I had to come in and sign the package being sent up to the MEB.

Did you have to sign anything before the MEB?

Just tryin to figure out all this stuff. Thanks.

My MTF is the MEB for my ASG so when the natitve sum was done i sign that saying i agree with what is found and then goes up to the MEB for review they agreed with the doc so i had to sign it agian then went off to the IPEB

Chinook,

There is only one MEB (no distinction between formal/informal, those are PEB terms). After the MEB is approved, the case is forwarded to the Informal Physical Evaluation Board (IPEB). They come to an initial determination that you accept or reject. If you reject and demand formal then it goes to a Formal Physical Evaluation Board (FPEB).

Not sure if you were tracking that, just wanted to make sure.

I know that the MEB has the right to list you as return to duty or request the IPEB make a decision. By the MEB requesting the IPEB, does this mean the MEB finds you unfit? If this is the case does the IPEB normally agree with the MEB and make you an offer for a disability rating?

MEB's do not make determinations of fit or unfit nor do they assign or even recommend disability ratings. MEB's determine if a service member has conditions that fail to meet retention standards. If no, then return to duty. If yes, then refer to a PEB who will determine if that condition makes the indiviudual unfit given his/her rank & MOS. If unfit and the condition is compensable, then they assign a disability rating.

Thank you Jason. I wasn't tracking .

I'm still a little confused.

I signed a paper with the MEB tech-I guess that would be the PEBLO. That paper was suppose to suggest that I agree with the NARSUM.

Then I was told the Hospital Commander had to approve.

When he did, I was told that there is a NEW process for Reservists.

The techs said they sent everything to the Reserve Command. So, I'm guessing that's Robins, GA.

The MEB tech said that the Reserve Command would make "a" decision and then send the paperwork off. She was very vague saying that she isn't sure of the process. So,. Send the paperwork off where???

Do you think it would be appropriate for me to call Robins, find where they are processing the MEB's, and just nicely ask what the process is-and see if they've received my paperwork. Just be nice to know.

Am I making this more difficult than it is?

Thanks for helping me through! :)

Chinook,

The RMG is located at Langley AFB. This is where the Reserve Paperwork goes. They usually have it for a couple of days tops. They verify that all the paperwork is there and then forward it on to the IPEB. They are there to ensure that all the dots and lines are in place for the reserve force. If you would like a contact name or number let me know.

AF Cop,

Thank you. You have been so helpful! Yes, please-I would like the contact info.

Just a few hours ago I found the AFI and DoDD that apply to the MEB/PEB process. Very helpful! One would have thought I would have been given them when this process started. After reading through, I did find that under certain conditions, one may take leave during the MEB/PEB process. I believe that my Dr. will support the position that I can return to Colorado during this process-even if it's under tdy or con leave. I know it's not moving back yet-but whatever works for now. I had a lumbar muscle spasm that kept me in bed over the weekend. Would be nice to have help and not be alone. I can barely stand today-the pain just shoots across my back.

So did you have to figure this process out through your own experience?
I'm grateful I stumbled across this site. I really appreciate your input. Thank you so much.
