medical retirement benefits

how close do i have to be to 20 years of active duty military service to be medically retired for 20 years? I have 19.6 years at this time and they want to start an MEB in the next three weeks? I want to make sure I get credit for 20 years of service.

You are set. It takes a while to be medically retired. If you hit 20 years you have the regular retirement and CRDP. I would save your leave. If you have an approved retirement packet you may ask for them to not MEB you as once you start IDES you don't have any control on when you can get out.

I concur. The process take 6+++months. You should make 20. If you getting through too fast there are ways to slow the process down, but I doubt it will be necessary.
