My Timeline - Currently Waiting on VA for Ratings

Yea that would be pretty nice. Quick question, why did the need another exam and who was able to tell you that
The examiner messed up one of my exams for my referred condition. They couldn’t pull enough information from my record to make a decision so they just ordered another exam. The examiner skipped over a LOT of questions and didn’t do a good job at all.

I really hope I’m not in the same boat because I saw some inconsistencies with my exams. I just want my proposed rating so I can start taking. I have 81 days smh.

I sent my stuff to the PEB on 30NOV and still haven't heard anything. I keep getting told its being adjudicated. So I called the VA on Friday and they told me the PEB hasn't sent anything over.

So I believe you have to be found unfit before they send it to the Va.

yes, however calling the VA and seeing if you are in "decision phase" has proven to be the best way to figure out if you're found unfit if you have a shitty peblo
Very true. The VA hasn’t help much other than that part. VERA has been the most reliable for my question. I just don’t wanna call them too much and get screwed over because I’m annoying them.

I find the hotline to be hit or miss, I've gotten very useful people and others who have pretty much told me to kick rocks. I've only had one VERA appointment and she was very nice. As far as "annoying" the hotline, they don't really have any power besides putting "notes" in on what you've called about. I called weekly + and my timeline seems relatively normal.

Quick question for everyone - I checked my status on the VA Tracker and it’s showing as closed and the MSC Supervisor said I should be hearing something from the PEBLO this week.

My question is - is a medical/dental checkout required in order for them to process your separation orders with out date?
I have everything done including Capstone, TAPS etc. etc. the only thing I’m lacking are these two checkouts. I called Dental today and they’re scheduled out 6+ weeks until the end of March. They’re saying I’ll have to stop by daily to try and squeeze me in.

This may be silly, but I’m trying to make sure nothing holds my process up.

Thank you guys in advance!

I looked up the Navy regulations and you don't need any separation medical exams if you are separated through IDES. We already did all our exams with the VA and whatnot. I would probably go by and grab your records from them but no it shouldn't affect your orders.

Rocky, okay great thank you for that. It would seem silly that a quick dental exam should hold the process up. I was also wondering that about the medical checkout since the VA just did their exams a couple of months ago.

I just wanted to verify with others experiences because that was apart of the checkout but from my understanding that doesn’t effect the process with PERS in processing the new EAOS. I hope this is the case!

No it won't affect PERS at all. The only thing it could affect is your command letting you check out. But just tell them it's not required for you since you went through IDES.

Okay, thank you! That makes sense.

One more question for you... I called the VA to see if I could get them to email me their decision letter since my case is showing closed on the VA App.
The woman I spoke with was very kind but informed me that it is still in the final quality review stage so they do have have a completed and finalized decision yet.

I'm confused by that, does that just mean it's back in the hands of the PEB being wrapped up?

I would call back on Monday and it will probably be good to go by then. It's always a toss up if they'll send it to you though. MSC is usually your best bet for getting the percentage but sometimes the people from the hotline will just send you the letter once it's ready. Quality review likely means the VA supervisor is looking over it.

I just called the VA, and they told me my claim is still open, and that it’s in the preparation for a decision phase, I’ve been unfit since Dec 02, 22; i also asked for an estimation of when it would be completed and the lady said she doesn’t have one….does anyone know what that means or how long until a decision?
Interesting. Seems like there’s no process anymore and people just get what they decide at that moment lol. People at my command are getting EAS 70 days out, most take 30-40 days of terminal.
Update!
PEB started: Apr 04, 2022
PEB sent: Oct 11, 2022
Found unfit: Dec 2, 2022
I just checked the VA website, it says my claim was closed on Feb 25, and have sent a letter. Does this mean I have to wait until my letter comes to see what my actual proposed ratings are? Also does anyone know what the estimation is until you get out after you get to This stage?

Usually about 2 weeks before your PEBLO gets ratings. You can call the VA and if you get a nice person they can tell you your proposed VA though

If they do, I’ve read that after what am I supposed to do? When do I sign, and after I do sign I’ve read it’s about 30-90 days until you’re completely out, correct? Or have you heard something else?

They said they sent a letter with mine but would not tell me. I checked the Va website but the letter doesn’t have the rating on there. Will the letter not have it and my peblo will only be able to see?
