Nation Guard and Fed Tech MEB

Hey everybody,

I am over 20 years total with 14 active and the remaining in the Army National Guard. I’m a CW4 Blackhawk pilot and also a GS13 technician working as a pilot as well. I’ve had migraines for years but it’s has progressed to the point of removing me from flight status. I’m 100 P/T with a 50% for migraines already through the VA. I’m about to be placed P3 and start the med board process, but I’m worried they will try to claim it as not line of duty. Has anyone had something similar to this? Thanks!

One thing I do know is that as long as you have more than 18 months as a dual status tech, regardless if you are medically retired or just booted out medically, you will receive FERS special disability retirement. If you’re on FERS that is. I’m not sure about the older folks on CSRS. We had a kid at my shop who was given a “non-duty related medical discharge” so he received no military pension or VA benefits because he was not a veteran but he still receives tech disability retirement
