Naval Medical Center Portsmouth (NMCP)

Anyone in the Virginia Beach, Portsmouth, or Norfolk area currently in the PEB phase. I was found unfit 23OCT24 and trying to gauge a timeline for the VA to send my findings. Been seeing 60-85 day turnaround from other branches and locations here on this forum. Please share or drop some knowledge/timelines if willing. Thanks.

So, you're close. The PEB sent their notification to PERS which initiated the MyNavyHR case, and then they sent the disposition over to the VA at the same time. At that point, the VA starts finalizing your ratings and generating your paperwork. It was 9 days from that case generation note to my VA case closing.
have you heard anything

Good Afternoon All,
Just got my findings in yesterday, 100% P&T for both DOD and VA. I have a couple of questions regarding aid and attendance benefits that I'm due to receive as well as the 100% DOD rating, which is extremely odd. I heard the max for DOD was 85% for non-concurrent retirees. Will keep you updated when i get my findings review underway.

With regard to aid and attendance, my findings said that I am entitled to benefits for meeting A&A criteria, but it is also saying that I have met housebound criteria and that I will be receiving that instead (aid and attendance under 38 USC 1114(L) and 38 CFR 3.350(b)(3) pays more than housebound allowance). Nothings ironed out yet so I hope to return with better information for those that may or may not be in the same boat as I am.
Just had my findings review and I spoke to the VA about my discrepancies, the percentage rating from the PEB only stands as a way to gauge how entitled you are to receiving DOD pension, and a rating over the 75% limit isn't wrong or an administrative error as that only matters in-post. As for the A&A guidelines, the way it was written on my findings report from the VA stumped my attorney, where he then directed me to call the 1000 line. After being on the phone with them for some time, it sounds like they aren't guaranteeing reception of A&A, however they are saying that I am eligible to submit an application in the event I do not finally receive it. Until that happens, I will be getting paid at the housebound rate unless they do end up giving me A&A. Will keep you posted.

Also found the holy grail of the behind the scenes at the VA for IDES personnel: “M21-1 Part III Subpart i Chapter 2 Section D”. Tells you everything you need to know about how the VA processes every claim from MEB to post-military

VA.GOV showing my claim was closed on 14JAN with the classic, "We’ll also send you a copy of your decision letter by mail. It should arrive within 10 days after the date we closed your claim, but it may take longer."

when i mean i know nothing about any of this i mean i know nothing... all i know is the date is 18 DEC. that V.A closed my case and on the 19th I recieved in the mail my proposed rating... im just waiting for my findings and praying it comes soon

cool. I just wish i knew a timeline for this...
Talked to my PEBLO today, and he said that he got findings for a dude that was submitted 12 days before me. You have the same VA closing date as I do, so that should give you a rough estimate.

Sorry I am new to this process, how did you know the PED had accepted your case? How did you find out your unfit finding?

@boatGoat20 and @Ihatethemedicalboard I am pretty much in your timeline group. Was found unfit end of October and just waiting on ratings now as well. The number you have is for Jeff at the PEB. I usually have luck reaching him around 8-9 EST. Fair warning he is a very busy guy and talks straight to the point, and at first comes off rude, but he will give you a lot of info if he has it. The VA app from what I have been told and seen really only is used once ratings are complete. It will show up as closed, and you can try and get them to email you the letter with percentages and find out before getting the official notice from PEBLO. The waiting is brutal, but is what it is. Hopefully we all start hearing something soon before the holiday breaks.
Sorry new here, my PEB was submitted, I’m wondering how you were notified that you were unfit?
