Hello all,
Been lurking for a few months and decided to post my timeline as hopefully it helps someone, as this forum has helped me quite a bit. I am currently active duty Navy with 20 years and 4 months TIS. I know this will lead to retirement, just ready for the process to be over with.
01 Mar 2022- Initial injury, ruptured L5/S1 disc with multiple bulging disc in lumbar spine.
01 Mar 2022-11 Dec 2023- 128 days LLD, 500 days LIMDU, two surgeries and hospitalized due to lumbar osteomyelitis/discitis. During this time I received three steroid epidural injections, medial branch nerve block, radio frequency ablasion, L5/S1 microdiscectomy, 8 week IV treatment and hospitalization for osteomyelitis, L5/S1 fusion with facectectomy and all with no positive effects. Radiculopathy runs down both legs and I have lost complete function of the left foot, right foot is completely numb and left leg has atrophied noticeably. I have tried physical therapy, acupuncture, massage, yoga and several other modalities to no avail. After all this, neurosurgery at Portsmouth Naval hospital decided to initiate a med board.
11 Dec 2023- MEB Initiated
12 Dec 2023- Initial Narsum submitted
19 Dec 2023- PEBLO assigned
21 Dec 2023- VA/Legal brief
28 Dec 2023- VA MSC assigned, initial claim completed
29 Dec 2023- Completed and signed VA Claim
8 Jan 2024- CO NMA completed and submitted
11 Jan 2024-14 Feb 2024- C&P Exams completed with VES
18 Jan 2024- Meeting with DES attorney
25 Feb 2024- All DBQ’s uploaded to Tricare Online
27 Feb 2024- C&P reconciliation completed
27 Feb 2024- Received Narsum and all DBQ’s to review
28 Feb 2024- Signed Narsum
28 Feb 2024- Convening authority signs off MEB, forwards to PEB
29 Feb 2024- PEBLO reaches out and states PEB case has been submitted. Also states to not expect anything for three months.
Now the waiting game begins. I have seen a few post of cases that move quicker than the three month timeline given, but I’ve also seen cases take a lot longer. So far my case has moved along as smoothly as I can expect and hopefully it continues to do so.
I will update this post as I receive updates. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with questions or just to vent.
