PCM question

So my physical therapist told me September 7th he's recommending to my care team for a MEB due to my leg not recovering in a timely manner post surgery.

My question being will my PCM call me in before paperwork is submitted? Or? Basically how does the very beginning work?

I ask because I would like to add migraines and MH issues to the referred conditions. It's my understanding that will make my process easier down the road and there's no set number you can't have on there. Making the 30%+ DOD much easier to achieve.

Also what other points in the process is it easier or I suppose acceptable to have a condition added to the MEB referral for fit/unfit.

I ask this because I've seen that once it goes to the PEB they typically only find unfit the referred condition. Which makes it an uphill battle with appeals and asking for a FPEB.

I also ask because my PCM is well terrible. Never remembers to put in prescriptions, goes on leave without extending profiles (even after multiple clinic visits asking for it), just forgets to put profiles in, refuses to give physical therapist recommended P3 because she "doesn't give those to anyone below E7" went to patient advocate but from my understanding even though I can see someone else she will remain for administrative purposes my PCM and I'm assuming will do the refer to IDES/MEB and do the NARSUM.

Sure, you might as well add as many things as possible that are labeled a p3. Mental health is the new tinnitus so go for that one as well

With gwot ending and those with direct combat experience diminishing, MH is still an available thing to claim with whatever your reason to having a decline in mental health is.

Yeah, I just started going to EBH and I'm waiting on a migraine referral at the moment. I just didn't know if the PCM converses with the SM before submitting referral for opportunities to add conditions or if they just automatically submit the referral to IDES for the one condition my PT recommended a MEB for... Or at what other points in the process it's available to add to the original MEB referrals

I've heard of someone getting 100 percent MH due to cockroaches falling on his or her head in the barracks...

I went through a few years ago, but the more p3 profiles the better. Think of it as adding up more percentages to your DOD rating. VA is great as it gives you money for the rest of your life and opportunities to pursue different jobs, but 30 percent DOD gives you medical retirement and if you have a family, tricare. Best of luck...

I am sure I will make some butt hurt, but use VA as an advantage to take chances to pursue a meaningful career. I have seen a lot of people try to just milk the system and go for ssdi, but realize that you and your experiences are valuable to the civilian world.

Last thing, your military career is awesome but it doesn't define you. It was your previous job. A " veteran " is amazing but progress further than that and redefine yourself as you can't go through life as a " veteran " or " combat veteran". When you get out, no one gives a shit

Sounds like a rumor. I've heard lots of things, I knew to be untrue. MH assessments are not a "give me."

Its crazy the way we treat others experiences and what they went through. I had a whole thing written out, but I guess I am not "combat enough" to know what I am talking about. Do not let anyone diminish your experience, or what people like them put others through. If you have issues, MH or otherwise, report it. Those who tell you not to, are the ones who will be on the stand in 20 years explaining why they did what they did.
