Questions Regarding VARR

Hey I have a few questions regarding VARR’s if anyone can help out.

1. What is the current turnaround time looking like?
2. Any advice on getting it approved?
3. Does it delay the processing of your separation if you’ve already hit medical retirement percentages?

Thanks!

Hi, I had success with a VARR. My recommendation is to try to provide any evidence of previous decisions of folks with the same issues you have. I would also ensure the lawyer (I used the lawyer the Army provided) looks at the codes used for the initial decision to make sure they used the right one. Lastly, I would also recommend that you have your spouse, a loved one, a close friend, or a coworker write a letter that conveys any lifestyle impacts you may have due to your condition. Your mileage may vary.

If I remember correctly, my decision came within 4 weeks of submitting the VARR but that was last summer. No telling the turn around time now. God bless!

Forgot one. You should absolutely write your own letter detailing your daily struggles due to your conditions. These two letters will help the evaluator better understand and rate you appropriately.
