Tdrl extended past 3 years

I have been tdrl since April 2020. I recently had my re-evaluation board a week ago (May 2023) and was told my TDRL status will remain the same, nothing will change including my percentage.

Question:

It’s my understanding that no one can be TDRL longer than 3 years, correct? What does this mean for me?

Unless something has changed in the National defense Authorization Act of 2017, TDRL placed after 1 January 2017, tenure for those placed on TDRL is 3 years, and if before Jan 2017, it's five years. In your case, it's clearly a three year max for you. I would like to think you were placed on continued TDRL on error, although I'm not sure who you would engage with for this.

@anubis Thank you for your input. That’s my dilemma… I have no idea who I would need to contact for official clarification.

Hello @Name_unknown

If you were in the Army:

Question: Who should I contact if I have questions about my physical examinations or other matters pertaining to my status on the TDRL?

Answer:
You can contact your PEBLO at the MTF where your examination is to be conducted. Additionally, you may contact the USAPDA TDRL Branch at 1-855-863-0426 or email at [email protected].

Someone told you wrong. What branch? Contact whichever DOD office contacted you to start the re-evalution process.

Simple answer- if your case was reevaluated after the three-year mark, you may have slipped through the cracks, and the adjudicators are working to get you reinstated and then change your status. However, you would not be "told" your results, nor are there reasons to keep someone on the TDRL after three years since all of the five-year legacy TDRL cases would have been finalized by 31 Dec 21. Since you wrote that you were Navy, the process is simple- you would receive initial TDRL review findings by email nowadays directly from Tonjua Howard - the TDRL Coordinator at the Navy Yard. I would suggest that you email her on Monday at [email protected] Note- I know this to be the case because I have been representing TDRL clients for years in this system - by way of example, in early May of this year, Tonjua emailed several clients their TDRL findings for us to either accept or appeal. The email always contains a findings letter with an Election of Options and a copy of your TDRL exam. Thus, you should write to her by email on Monday to ascertain your actual status.

Thank you so much, sir. I’ll reach out to her first thing tomorrow morning.

Does being place on TDRL mean you are still in?
