When placed on TDRL do you need to remain in the area of your duty station or will I be able move to where I plan to permanently retire?

You are retired and are free to move wherever you like. Only "complication" would be if you moved to some remote location OCONUS, say Istanbul or Nepal, you would have to travel for your TDRL re-evaluation.

Thanks Jason, I will be heading to Michigan and the VA hospital is 30 miles away. SO does that also include orders to cover moving expenses?

Your TDRL/SEP orders include a return to HOR move.

I figured as much but wanted to make sure. Got word from a family member today to just hurry and get out and I will not need to worry about money. It's nice to have a rich Aunt.

If your rich Aunt is looking to adopt a nephew, let me know.:D

I plan to move to Thailand after get out. Do I have to travel for my TDRL re-evaluation? And if I don't have to, how it work when the time for re-evaluation come?

I wish I have a rich Aunt too :)

TonZa, Do you have PTSD and on the TDRL? if so you will most likely need to check in one a month or every other month I would think. When they call you in for re-examination they will want to see your progress notes from your treating psych. How will you do this if you move to Thailand? I plan to join you as well. I have a place in Thailand but will retire up north in Chiang Mai were I can live easy.
