Hi all!

Thank you to everyone who always shows support and offers advice in this forum. It is because of you all that others are able to keep their sanity and head in the right direction with their questions.

My husband's NARSUM was signed Feb. 22, 2016 for Ulcerative Colitis and UC-related arthritis as the two conditions that need to rate him as fit/unfit. We are thinking he will not continue service due to UC not being curable. He has not heard back from his PEBLO about a fit/unfit rating. Is there someone we can call at the VA (without restarting his place in the queue) to find out if they have his file?

Here are the conditions he claimed:

Does anyone have any clue what the DoD and VA disabilities percentage might possibly be? He's had a few flares and anemia with his UC since being diagnosed in Jan. 2015. He also has sleep apnea with a CPAP machine. We are thinking at a minimum he would receive 50% for the sleep apnea.

He will also need hip surgery, according to his docs, to correct his cam impingement.

If y'all need more details, please let me know. We are just trying to get an estimate of what we will need to try and live on while he goes back to school and takes time to recover from surgery (4-6 months).

TIA!

Wait for the PEB to render a fit/unfit decision, from there his conditions will be sent to VA for disability ratings upon 199 agreed and signed.

Please see the link below and look up his condition to have an idea of what the ratings could be like at the end for your husband.

We're just impatient...we have a 90% assurance that it will be an unfit rating since it isn't a curable condition. In the meantime, I'll check out the link you sent. Thank you!!

The only real way to determine his ratings is to look at the file submitted to the VA-DRAS. If you have a copy of his C&P evaluation, I could give you a pretty good idea of what it should be.

During the C&P evaluations the provider fills out a disability benefits questionnaire (DBQ). The DBQ makes it pretty easy to figure out the ratings, because the wording on it matches up with the VASRD almost perfectly.

Here is the VASRD http://www.benefits.va.gov/warms/bookc.asp#i
