Hello,@RonG Hoping for an estimate. My situation is slightly different, as I was medically retired following a parachute malfunction / broken back as an O-1 with 1.5 years of service.
1.--Gross DOD pay before VA waiver: $1353.00
2.--DoD disability percentage: 40%
3. --Active duty years and months : 1 year 4 months
4. --VA compensation: 80%: $1780
5.--Projected or approved CRSC percentage by your service: 40%
6.--Whether you qualify for another type retirement and whether you transitioned to the blended retirement system: Not qualified
** Also wondering, how long does it typically take to receive CRSC pay from decision letter ? Retroactive pay?
Thank you for the help, I appreciate it.
If your date of retirement was 8 May 22, the effective date could go back to that date if you waived retired pay and the effective date was approved by your service. For back pay of CRSC… if my retirement date was 8 May 2022, I’m still pending approval of my CRSC. When would the back pay begin?
Hello @frapplesHi Ron!
Can I get an estimate? I’m not sure what or how to estimate for CSRC. I haven’t submitted yet. I'm trying to figure out if it is beneficial to submit.
Thanks!
1. $5143
2. 100% DOD
3. 26 years, 9 months
4. 100% T&P, $3636, spouse (2 adult children not on VA benefits), SMC-K $108 (included)
5. I'm not sure on what to estimate.
6. On redux
Hello @Joker05Hello Ron,
If you would be willing to help calculate my CRSC pay, I would be very grateful.
DoD Retirement pay $2147.69
Years of service are 14 USMC
VA disability= 100% P&T married no children $3636.17
DoD Disability rating = 50%
Thanks a lot for the help Ron, I really appreciate it. I meant to ask, my total VA disability is 100% P&T but the percentage for the DoD disability I was retired for is 50%. Do I still put 100% on the CRSC form or do I only put the 50% related to the DoD PTSD? Sorry if that's confusing. Thanks again.Hello @Joker05
If, the 14 years are all active duty, then the following will apply:
1. 2147.69/50% = 4295 high three
2. 14 years AD x 2.5% = 35% longevity multiplier
3. 4295 x 35% = 1503 longevity portion of retired pay and a CRSC ceiling.
4. Your CRSC will be the LESSER of 1503
OR
the amount shown in VA compensation tables for the approved CRSC percentage
Notes:
—2% is used instead of 2.5% if you were in the blended retirement program
—if the 14 years are not active duty, the computation is incorrect
—I am not familiar with USMC orders, but Army orders for disability retirement show the active duty or active duty equivalent years on page one, 3/4 down the page, as “Disability Retirement “
Ron
Its whatever the % is for CRSC. Its per condition. So if the PTSD is the only condition related to combat then 50% VA rating would be the CRSC money that is paid out to you. CRSC is totally apart from your total ratings for DOD & VA.Thanks a lot for the help Ron, I really appreciate it. I meant to ask, my total VA disability is 100% P&T but the percentage for the DoD disability I was retired for is 50%. Do I still put 100% on the CRSC form or do I only put the 50% related to the DoD PTSD? Sorry if that's confusing. Thanks again.
Hello,Hey Ron can you calculate my CRSC too? I was just awarded CRSC 40% on August 31 2022. I Should be back paid to the date of my VA award for the conditions to 2018. Just wondering what my monthly amount for CRSC would be. I served from 2002-2014 all active duty time I was medically retired with 12 years/E6. I am 40% DOD and 100% P&T VA and 40% CRSC.

c. 1016.81 longevity portion of retired pay and a CRSC CEILING
d. CRSC approved at 40% = 673.28
Based on your info, your CRSC will be 673.28
Ron
edited to add:
—CRSC cannot exceed the amount of the waived retired pay.
—CRSC cannot exceed the amount of the approved CRSC percentage (amt in VA Comp tables).
—CRSC cannot exceed the dollar amount of the longevity portion of retired pay.
—CRSC when combined with residual retired pay cannot exceed the longevity amount.
Hello @BigHurt50@RonG Hoping for an estimate. I am trying to figure out my situation. I was TDRL then PDRL Air Force following adult onset Athsma after my Uzbekistan deployment with 10years 11 months of service.
1.--Gross DOD pay before VA waiver: $852.00
2.--DoD disability percentage: 30%
3. --Active duty years and months : 10 year 11 months
4. --VA compensation: 80%: $2035.43 Married 1 child under 18.
5.--Projected or approved CRSC percentage by your service: 70%
6.--Whether you qualify for another type retirement and whether you transitioned to the blended retirement system: Not qualified
Thank you for the help, I appreciate it.
Thank you,Hello @BigHurt50
Estimate.
a. 852/30% = 2840 high three
b 10.92 AD years x 2,5% = 27.3% longevity multiplier
c. 2840 x 27.3% = 775.32 longevity portion of retired pay which is less than the CRSC amount in the VA comp tables for 70%
d. Your CRSC based on the info you provided = 775.32 (which is close to the total waiver amount}
