VA Rated me lower than the Coast Guard PEB? How does that work?

Hi Jason & all. Been a while since I visited the boards, but I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction again. Just to refresh your memory, I was Medically Retired from the Coast Guard with a 60% rating. I had surgery on my back while on Active Duty, and the S1 nerve root was...

IPEB Completed and rated me horridly low

Myxo; I hope that you get things cleared up, whether through the surgery, or by getting a better rating at the FPEB. That happens to be the same code they used for the severed nerve in my back, although they rated me fairly at 60%. Anyway, good luck to you. -CPO Don Campbell

    Timeline Question

Mcat; yes...I definetley know how it is! I am on my way out. They rated me at 60 percent and found me not fit for duty, and are placing me on the Temporary Disability Retired List. (TDRL) I have just over 10 years of service. When I said DHL, I meant the mail carrier. They did send me as link...

    Timeline Question

CGR: I have some exact dates for you. I was off on my previous statement. My MEB was mailed from my Unit to The IPEB on 12JAN08. I received my findings via DHL on 04MAR08. That means it actually took 52 days exactly. Longer than I remembered, but a little over 7 weeks. They actually made the...

    Timeline Question

CGR: I just got through this process myself. From the time the MEB was submitted to Headquarters until the time I received a response was 1 month. Good luck with your Med Board.

    looking for your opinion

I wonder if it might be a better avenue to ask the Informal board for reconsideration, before appealing to a formal board. It looks to be a black and white case to me, but maybe I am missing something? Have you talked with your PEBLO? I assume you are electing legal counsel? I wish you luck with...

    Worth fighting?

Also; keep in mind of you think you will be rated under 30% either way, the severance pay will not change.

    Worth fighting?

PD; my question to you would be what do you stand to lose if you take your arguments to the Formal Board? You were rated at 0%. It can only go up from there. The only thing it adds is time. Will the job you have lined up still be there a couple months down the road? If so, it seems like it might...

How long from accepting findings, to out?

Gentlemen; thanks for the quick replies. 45 days is actually must faster than I was expecting. I was sort of Guesstimating that I would be out sometime in June at the earliest. I do not have a lot of Leave on the books, and am not planning to re-locate anytime in the near future, so It may be a...

How long from accepting findings, to out?

Hello. My paperwork is coming from HQ tomorrow with the IPEB Decision. (NFFD placement on TDRL with 60%) I am wondering if anyone has recently been through this, and can tell me how long from accepting the finding, will it take to process me out? I need to start doing some serious planning, and...

IPEB FINDINGS: NFFD and placement on TDRL

BuiltGypsy; I will do my best to keep you posted on how things go with follow-up appointments. RayH: Good luck with your Physical. Yes, I had read that website. It is actually one of the great "wells of knowledge" when it comes to the subject of MEdical Boards. The FAQ, and pebforum.com were...

IPEB FINDINGS: NFFD and placement on TDRL

I was rated at 60%. Jason...you were right on! You are truly an expert in your field. I suppose the only thing I would have rather seen was PDRL, so I would not have to do the re-evals every 18 months, but I am still happy with the decision.

IPEB FINDINGS: NFFD and placement on TDRL

So, this is what I just found out is coming from HQ for me. Does this mean I am at least 30%? I am under the impression that it must be 30% or more to be on TDRL in the first place. I only got this info from the website that HQ sent me to follow the progress of my IPEB, so I should see something...

    question about length of process

Jason; thanks for that. I remembered reading something along those line. It just makes sense to me for the Board to make a decision based off ALL information, not a 5 month old Medical report, that sat around for over 2 months collecting dust because someone, somewhere along the way dropped the...

    question about length of process

Hello all. I have another question. I just received an email stating that my package has been received at HQ (ADM-1) I am wondering if anyone has an idea how long it takes to get a response once the package is received. On a side note, when the narrative summary was written for my MEB, it was...
