Timeline Question

I am a TSgt in the AF and I was wondering once you get past the local medical boad and it goes to the IPEB how long does it take to get a response?

CGR: I just got through this process myself. From the time the MEB was submitted to Headquarters until the time I received a response was 1 month. Good luck with your Med Board.

Thank you for the quick reply. It's been 2.5 weeks since it was submitted, I am hoping for a quick response, the waiting is making me nuts.

I've seen it come back in as little as three weeks, but I've also been told to expect as long as two months in some cases. I think Watson's been waiting for about 11 weeks now.

There is no rhyme or reason to these lengths of time, I just hope that the wait isn't causing so much stress that you can't think of anything else.

Im in the same boat, TSgt. I signed my paperwork yesterday and it was supposed to be sent either yesterday or today. I'll keep you guys posted as far as timeline. Anyone been through one recently, like within the last couple of months? I'm going up for asthma and sleep apnea. Wondering what the latest results have been. Thanks guys!

I am being boarded for some mental issues.
I'm not a crazy,man eating manic :)
I just have some issues that don't go with active duty.

My PEBLO said 4-6 weeks. Lots of mental issues usually get admin discharges.

I've been hearing on average 6 to 8 weeks.

I just got my results back and it took 6 weeks and 1 day.

CGR: I have some exact dates for you. I was off on my previous statement. My MEB was mailed from my Unit to The IPEB on 12JAN08. I received my findings via DHL on 04MAR08. That means it actually took 52 days exactly. Longer than I remembered, but a little over 7 weeks. They actually made the decision on the 27th of February. Hope that gives you some idea of the process, however I am Coast Guard, so it may be slightly different. Good luck with your Board.

uscgdonald,
Thanks for the input! What is DHL? Like, the mail system? I heard something about a website that they send you, to check the status on your package. Is this true? Did they send you emails to update you, also?
Are you on your way out, or staying in?
Sorry so many questions, you know how it is!

Mcat; yes...I definetley know how it is! I am on my way out. They rated me at 60 percent and found me not fit for duty, and are placing me on the Temporary Disability Retired List. (TDRL) I have just over 10 years of service. When I said DHL, I meant the mail carrier. They did send me as link to a websote called Lawmanager which I used to follow the process of my IPEB. I checked it daily to see if there were any changes, and when I checked it on the 27th of Feb, it had the IPEB Findings listed saying "NFFD and placement on TDRL" I had to call HQ to find out the %. They then told me they would send the package via DHL, and I got that on the 4th of this month. I accepted the findings, but also accepted the free Coast Guard lawyer should anything strange come up during the final processing. The whole waiting game is enough to drive a person mad. I am glad it is over, although now I have to play the new waiting game of...When will I get a retirement date. From what I have gathered, it will probably be around July that I am retired.

If you dont mind me asking, what were you rated for?
Congratulations on your findings! I'm sure I'll check it religiously also, errrr!!!
I just want to be done already. My body and soul is just tired, you know?!
:(

Was rated for ; " 5243: Intervertebral Disk Syndrom, Lumbar rated at 0%, and 5243-8599-8520: Left S1 nerve root injury, residual to surgery, with left lower extremity weakness, rated analogous to incomplete Paralysis of sciatic nerve, severe, with marked muscular atrophy, rated at 60%"

Basically I had back surgery in Nov 06 to correct a ruptured disc, and the hospital screwed up and severed the s1 nerve at the root, causing partial paralysis in my left leg. Not so bad to the point that I cannnot walk or anything, but I have constant muscle spasms and muscle cramps (Charlie Horses) and a lot of numb areas. Luckily for me I went to a civilian hospital, so I have legal recourse working in my favor on that side of things.
