Results In Today!!

All,

My results came in from the IPEB. It was almost ten weeks, but the day arrived. PDRL 60%. They stipulated that it was based on the VASRD and NDAA 2008. Typically this disability was rated as between 10% and 30% according to the AFI. So to see that they applied the new law was great. I am waiting on one change that indicates my disability was caused by an instrumentality of war. Other than this minor issue, that I have been told can be resolved at the current level without going to a formal board, will mean that I sign in the next day or two and start the retirement process. Thank you Jason for the site. I could not have done it without you. The thing that probably matter most in my case was specifying the law and VASRD code in my letter to the board and why I felt the NARSUM was steering them down the wrong path of the old system.

AF Cop,

Congratulations! I am happy that you got a good result and I am glad to have helped.

I hope everything goes smoothly with your transition and I hope you continue to check in from time to time.

Congrats! I'm glad a fellow AF cop was well taken care of. What is the break down for your disabilities and %? I was looking at some of your other posts, and I think it said sleep apnea. Is this what you were talking about for the IPEB actually using the 2008 NDAA?

AF Cop,

That is such great news!!! I am so happy for you and your family!!! You have inspired me and I'm hanging in there. Talk to you soon!

Chinook,

Thanks for the kind words. Positive thinking goes a long way and remember you are your own best advocate.

Surfer495,

I was boarded for Chronic Pulmonary Embolisms Requireing Anti-Coagulation Therapy. The embolisms were caused by anti-Phospholipid Syndrome. One of the residuals from the embolisms was the OSA. The VASRD discussed the residuals of my condition and how to rate them. As I read it, I could justify a higher rating if I find someone who reads these regulations the way that I do. Of course, I can see that there are those that read these a different way. My Dad told me to always remember to fight the fight you can win. So I am taking the OSA, and the other ailments that were not addressed by the board, to the VA for their portion. So as much as I would like to say 50% for OSA with a CPAP, the board didn't even look at the condition. Could be good fodder for a BCMR after retirement (I need something to keep me busy).
