I was originally on TDRL in June 2019 they re-evaluated me and concluded the injury was not going to get better so I am now medically separated. I received the letter to inform me on September 12, 2019. It is now December 3, 2019 and I still have not received my severance pay. All I’m being told is it’s completed and in review. Does anyone know how long it will take?
Have you called DFAS for an update? They received my orders on sep 14 and didn’t touch my case until last week after I called for an update (I called three times the past two weeks so they could flag my account and notice the inactivity). I still haven’t received anything but last week I was told it was finally reviewed and approved so I’m not sure what else there is to do other than call for another update tomorrow.
I have been waiting for 6 and half months for my severance check. ( Still waiting) Dfas has lost my paperwork at least twice. Then I have to call headquarters to resend my discharge orders. I got tired of calling dfas and I found a good contact email with someone in support. If you're interested let me know.

I received my severance payment about 90 days-ish after being officially separated. I am now waiting on my severance pay tax refund which is probably around the 90/120 day waiting period. Check your myPay account, you will know when it is getting paid because they will post a new Retiree Account Statement - thats how I found out about mine.

Every time I call Dfas they say my account pretty much has no activity since the previous time I called, and they’ve already put in two escalations on my acct for review...still nothing. She gave me a FAX number to contact this last time...really?!! I received separation from tdrl orders in August. I’m tired of only being able to contact the call center and not being able to speak with someone that is actually handling my paperwork

I am on TDRL and I signed my DA199 1/21/2020 recommending Severance. I have a few questions: 1. If my DA199 says SSG and I was promotable to SFC (had a sequence number) do I receive severance as a SSG or SFC? 2. How long until I receive orders? 3. How long until I receive severance? 4. Does my severance get taxed if it was combat related and I get it back or will it not get taxed to start with? Who can I call at PDA to check the status? Thanks

One veteran recently offered that they received severance pay three weeks after separation. See other reports in this thread.
Promotion at the Time of Retirement or Separation Promotions <---LINK
Per the provisions of 10 USC 1372, Soldiers on a promotion list at the time of retirement for disability will be retired for disability at the promotion list grade. Further, the Soldier will be promoted to the designated grade effective the day before placement on the retired list.
Per the provisions of 10 USC 1212, Soldiers who are on the promotion list at the time of separation for disability with entitlement to disability severance pay will be paid such compensation at the promotion list grade. Further, the Soldier will be promoted to the designated grade effective the Soldier’s separation date.
The guidance above also pertains to Active Army Soldiers who have reached the time-in-service and time-in-grade requirements for the next level of automatic promotion (PV2 to SPC), provided Soldiers do not have pending suspension of favorable personnel actions.
Note: Someone recently pointed out that they would NOT be promoted to sergeant major because he was unable to attend the USASMA which is a prerequisite for promotion to grade E9, Army.

I signed my da 199 7-Jan- 2020 and recieved my orders 27- JAN- 2020 four days after my official separation date on 23th.. I called DFAS and they said 30 to 60 days to get severance. Hope this helps
No. You can call DFAS but they will tell you about 60 days processing time. They received my orders 29-Jan-2020 and they told me to call in 30 days to get some update. Call them to make sure that they have received your orders.

I got them from my peblo 4 day after the official separation date. DFAS got them 6 day after the official separation date. Also I am waiting for the mail package to arrive because I have to send my ID back in the envelope provided by the them. Once to get your orders call dfas to make sure they got them as well. Be prepared to be transferred from one department to another one until someone figure things out.
I called DFAS and they said they didn't receive orders yet. I called the PDA and TDRL 800 number and they said the PDA has it but hasn't touched it yet. I signed 199 on Jan 21 and no orders yet. My Peblo said look in the mail for them but that doesn't seem right. Anyone have a timeline on orders? Severance timeline?

Just have to be a little patient brother. You will get them in the mail but hopefully you have a proactive peblo and he/she email them to you sooner. I am waiting for my severance and dfas told me 60 days maybe sooner if I am lucky. I recieved my orders from my peblo in 20 days but I am still waiting for the snail mail to show up
Around the 60 day mark, starting checking your myPay account, you will get an updated RAS statement with your severance pay. Thats how I found out about mine.
