  • Jason, On my sep physical "Does not qualify for continued service" was Xed out. Now if the board finds me fit what happens then?
Jason, My local MEB met and has decided to forward my package down for an official board. So, I went to get copies yesterday and asked can I apply for a LAS, because I'm over 19. I was told the LAS program is not available any longer?
    WOW when did that change?

BTW thanks for all you do!!
Jason , I'm meeting with an AFResrve pysh today. They want to MEB me for PTSD diagnosis. What should I expect?
Hi Jason it has been awhile since we've talked. We just found out yesterday that my husbands pay from the army has stopped. He is still on the TDRL. Well he gets 100% from the VA, collects social security and the army was paying him 30%. Well the army stated that they are not paying him the 30% now because the VA let them know he collects from them. They told my husband to fill out the DD2860 form and then to see if he would qualify. Can the army stop paying him like this? Any help would be great
Im sorry...I am not technologically advanced enough for this website, but I am in desperate need of some clarification. I have been on the TDRL since 2005. I am a former combat Marine Infantryman (E-4/Cpl) who suffers from PTSD. I have had a recent evaluation from a Navy Doctor in N.C. The PEB offered me severance at 10% with severance pay. I have served over three years on active duty and I have sent them the paperwork back, not refuting their decision. I have a few questions.

What would my severance pay be?

How does that effect my VA monthly benifit?

Have I screwed myself by accepting this?

If for some reason I am unable to get your response on here, could you email me at [email protected] ?....I really need someone to help me get some understanding...

Thank you for your consideration and your continued support to veterans!
Thanks for the thanks! I am here in arctic Connecticut, but travel pretty much anywhere for representation. Hope you have a Happy New Year!
Just wanted to thank you for doing such a great job keeping the forum updated. Where is your practice by the way?
Thanks for the reply. I have been on convalescent leave since March 08. From Dec 07 to Mar 08, I performed my job by laying on the floor of my office (I had initially planned on retiring in June 08 and was hoping to make it a few more months on the floor). One day the Support Group Commander came by and said you can't be doing this, I think you need to speak with the medics. This is how the medical review started. I have no idea what my medical record said in regards to range of motion, but I doubt it said much. I don't ever recall being measured for any range of motion. From reading other posts on this website it doesn't appear that individuals get much of a rating from the military for back issues.

Thank you for your time and response. Happy Holidays!
    Jason,

I have 23 years active service and just received the results of my IPEB. They are recommending permanent retirement with a disability rating of 10%. I have degenerative disc disease, with 3 bad discs. Doctors will not perform surgery on 3 bad discs. I basically have to live with the pain and have been put on Cymbalta (a depression medication) which is used to treat chronic back pain. I cannot sit for more than a few minutes without feeling like my spine is being crushed. I am 43 years old and still need to work. I want to qualify for vocational rehab and from my understanding you need to have a VA rating of 20-30%. Does this sound like a fair offer and do you think it will it have any bearing on me getting at least a 30% VA rating?
Sir, I have a question about severance pay. If my Separation orders have a specific Service For Pay date on them and the Air Force is scheduled to pay me for 2 and a half years less than the date that is on my orders, is there any avenue I can take to make sure I get paid for that 2 1/2 years?

The AF is trying to pay me way less than estimated with the BPx2xYears in service formula. I'm at Shaw Air Force Base in SC and my finance office here doesn't have a clue. I'm having to research this on my own and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Another question I have is how long does it usually take for you to receive your final paycheck and severance pay after separating? Thanks in Advance for all your help.

    Mac
I found this forum while researching information regarding my situation. I was involuntary separated from the the Marine Corps in 2003 with full separation pays. My discharge was not related to any medical condition, nor was I under any medical review. In my transition from the service I was seen by the VA and subsequently given a disability rating of 20%. Sometime around a year after my separation from the service and a year of VA disability pay, I was notified by the VA that I was not entitled to receive my disability pay. The reasoning was I had received separations pay(again not related to medical) and upon repayment of that pay, I would again be eligible to receive the disability pay. Could you possible lead me in finding further information about this matter so I can understand how this could possible be related.
